Probably so the ugly person can worship the pretty one. Celebs and models are notrioulsy insecure - not that they would ever admit it. They need alot of attention.

Well, with the exception of Heidi and Seal whose marriage hasn't yet taken place, all those unions busted up... so while I don't know the answer as to why 'hot' chicks marry 'ugly' musicians (fwiw, I personally don't find a few of those women you mentioned to be very hot and I don't consider Seal nor Billy Joel - years ago when he was younger - unattractive, either) I would conclude the hot chick/musician combination to not be a very successful combination!

Really, though - how could get a meaningful answer to this kind of question, anyway? These are real people you're talking about and you can't know what goes on in their hearts/minds or between any of the two couples.

Pamela Anderson is the most overrated "hotty" in the history of the universe. I don't find her THE LEAST bit attractive. She's skeletal, she's got silicon, her face ain't pretty (nor is her hair) and her skintone is like green or something. Heidi Klum's not bad but she's a bit too thin for my taste. Julia Roberts is highly overrated too.

it proves she is deep & sees beyond the surface.

Could it be they just have different taste? That it's more than their mug they find attractive? I find all sorts of uncoventional people attractive. Has more to do with who they are, style, what they do, etc.

It really is that simple. Just sad you never see it the other way around.
