I've loved her from early on-but she really showed how much talent she had with her Standing in the Shadows of Motown tracks.

I'm literally about to cry! I have loved on Righteous Love ever since it was released and don't even get me started on "If I was your Man". That song smacks of magic or an ancient spell. She fucked shit up hard with that one. That song just floors me. I have that song on a comp sandwhiched inbetween PJ Harvey's "2 Bring You My Love" on one end and Prince's "If I Was Your Girlfriend" on the other. Joan is incredibly underrated and doesn't put out nearly enough music to keep me satisfied. I didn't dig on Relish until I heard Righteous Love. That album is freaken fabulous. Definitely my favorite of the three. Her covers album is beautiful as well. One time she was on the show "Duets" on MTV (or VH1) the night Melissa Etheridge was the main attraction. They sang "Bring Me Some Water" and dayum if they didn't tear it up like it was the last chance they ever had to sing. That performance illustrated how gifted she is. Music just came pouring out like a rushing river. When Joan gets moving, she's like a runaway train. Joan Osborne Every minute of last night is on my face today.... | |
