So I was watching videos and a really cool video by Nicole Wray came on called "If I was your girlfriend". it was very funky! Anyone know anything else about this chick?

Funny. I've heard this song before, but the other day I realized how much it reminded me of Prince's "If I was your girlfriend." She's not singing the same lyrics, is she?

I bought the vinyl 12" last week. On the B-side is a version with N.O.R.E.

Her new cd is called "Love Child" on Rocafella records. But I have a feeling with the sale of the record label, her cd will be pushed back. Artists always get the bad end of label mergers and splits.

You know I thought that was the same Nicole. But at that time I don't think she went by her full name...I think it was just Nicole. She had that song "Eyes better not Wander" too. Maybe some other songs with Missy & Timberland too...but that and "Make it Hot" are the only ones I remember. A while back some people were sayin' "whatever happened to Nicole"....I guess she's back now.

There was a dance singer in the mid-80s/early 90s that went by the name Nicole. I had one of her singles, "Don't You Want My Love" (1986?). Nicole Wray probably added her surname to avoid confusion.

I've seen the video for "If I Was Your Girlfriend" a few times on NYC public access and I have to give the song some credit for not sounding like everything else. There is a bit of a retro-vibe to it I think. If I had heard this song when I was in high school, I would have been all over it.

damn, i hope her cd comes out! why do they always push back cds of artists who are a little "different"? it's just not fair. people like Res, Kelis, Nikka Costa and Joi always have these problems with their albums being released. i'll be pissed if this never sees the light of day.
