I am truly serious here, help me to understand how on a site dedicated to Prince get comments about Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Beyonce and Usher? Excuse me but this is like going on a site dedicated to Rolls Royce and then commenting of how good your "Hundai" runs. Or asking who has a Bentley with 26" rims?

Has music become a "pop" contest? Prince is truly in a class with the greats like Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, Patty Labelle. These artist are extremely talanted musically. They are not models portraying music artist. They are not thugs glorifying their crimes. They would never resort to "lip-syncing" regardless how complex the dance moves are.

Don't get me wrong, I believe in the first ammendment, along with the rights of all orgers to express themselves. I just don't believe that many orgers truly appreciate just how talented Prince is. How could you listen to Prince and appreciate it and then listen to Britney Spears? It's mind boggling.

Interesting, because Prince lip-synched on American Bandstand. shrug

Prince is a great artist, and a lot of people here like him AND other artists. I like Prince and I like Britney sometimes. I also like Beethoven, Dolly Parton, Madonna, The Isley Brothers, Earth Wind & Fire, The Beatles. Your profile says you're not a fan - why come to a Prince site (besides the opportunity to knock others' tastes) if you're not a fan?

I am not a "fan" because "fan" is short for "fanatic", and I am not a fanatic nor fanatical toward anything. Look it up! I am an admirer, a supporter, and lover of music. Not a fan!

Unbeknowing to you the "lip-syncing" was not Prince's choice. It was the choice of the tv producers, Prince would have always rather perform live with a band. And that was before had the clout to demand a live performance. Today's magga pop stars have the clout yet they choose to lip sync because they lack confidence in their voice in a live setting. Unlike the studio where they have the option to "over-dub", re-record, over and over. In a live setting you only get one chance to make it right. That my fellow orgers is where real talent comes in.

Before he had the clout? That's funny. Seems to me he had already made the deal to produce, write, sing, and play all instruments on his albums. I'm sure he had the choice and the clout to say different. Do you forget how shy he was during that time? You sound like one bitter JW. I hope you don't come preaching on my front porch.

But if you have been raised listening to Britney, watching cartoons, and eating milk and cookies, I seriously doubt that you could appreciate the talent and hard work that goes into real recorded music, not alone the 100% real live performance. Multiple dancers on stage is only to sidetrack the audiance's attention from the un-talented artist, a ploy by the pop star manufacturer(major record label).

Thank you sooooo much for bringing this up, but I'd like to take this opportunity to set a few things straight about Janet Jackson:

Her singing style and limited vocal range almost all but destroy the content in her albums. It's as if someone sat inside a Bugati Veyron and ripped up all the apholstry inside of it. I mean, this woman can NOT sing. It's amazing.

I can understand people saying that she's an o.k. singer but not the best, but shit--I"ve heard people say that she's a terrific singer. I just don't get it. Her dry, raspy voice, sounds like some tried to mix Mini Mouse with Macy Gray, and strip out every shred of soul at the same time. Truly regretful.

I do have to give Janet some credit--she doesn't try to sing out of her vocal abilities like Britney though--but that's a topic that deserves it's own multi-volume thread.

Unlike most of you, I have experienced great music in my life and I still appreciate good music. It truly sadden me to see where the music industry is taking music to. Major record companies want to have total control over the music industry. Pop stars are more easily made than they are discovered. Pop stars can not demand anything from the major record companies for they themselves know that they were created and pocess no real talent to fall back on in the event of a dispute with the label. "I brought you into this world and I can take you out of this world" so says the record label.

When I see a young kid reach to buy a Janet Jackson cd yet has never heard Billie Holiday, yes it makes me bitter. When I see Usher able to draw thousands willing to pay $50.00 or more and BB King barely able to draw 200 in a small NY club yes it makes me bitter. This is the result of the greed of major record labels and the media they own and control. But you would not know about that, for you come from a "lip-syncing" era where artist are mass produced not discovered.

God help real music!

Then you would have a appetite for solid music today. Out of the Jackson five came Micheal, while a discovered star turned into a pop star he pocessed real talent. That is obvious over the many years. While I don't approve of his lifestyle, I do admit that he is musically talented, but Mike's supporters range greatly in age and music appreciation. For Mike to creat music in propotion to his musical knowledge there is a good chance that he may lose many of his supporters due to lack of appreciation, so compromise is necessary. Life of the one and only talented pop star.

I do have 3 answers for ya though...

1)this is the NON-PRINCE MUSIC FORUM so we can discuss other artists

2)there are plenty of gay boys on here who just love Mrs Britney Spears Alexander Federline for some reason (like she the next Madonna or Cher on the horizon and they are wanting to be the ones who discovered her)and then there are those of us that hate her as well...it's a good balance

3)The same reason people like New Power Soul...some just do

I know. I was being mostly facetious.

The Brits Lovers know who they are and the Brits haters know who they are. And we each know who's on whose side. And one of Our (the haters) points is that How can you be a Prince lover and a Britney Lover at the same time? How can one so deeply appreciate P SO much yet have a love all for Britney.

My biggest complaint to the lovers was that they post all kinds of Brit crap all over the Music forum, when it has nothing to do with music...just her exploits. I did start a thread about it, and I got served and I served them back...then it was ON! and then it was off.

Like Chewbacca, It don't make sense.
