Dancing in the Streets, by Ivor Novello Award winning director Keith Strachan, is a celebration of music from the heart of the Motor City - Detroit. The show returns to the UK following the success of its 1998 and 2000 tours. Berry Gordy was instantly interested in Martha's singing talents after listening to a demo tape. Her girl group the Del-phis changed their name to the Vandellas and the song I'll Have to Let Him Go began their string of hits including Jimmy Mack, Nowhere to Run, Ready for Love and Motown anthem Dancing in the Street. An Alexandra Theatre spokesman said: "Motown was a prominent force in breaking down barriers around the world and equally as importantly was responsible for producing some of the world's most influential and enduring songs of the 20th century. "For one week only we pay homage to the songwriters, producers and performers who gave us hit after classic hit. "We are proud to present original Motown stars Martha Reeves and Jimmy Ruffin who, along with a full supporting company and the powerhouse Dancing in the Streets band, will be performing many of the hits Motown made so famous." The show runs from Tuesday, March 23, to Saturday, March 27. http://www.thisisworceste...099ZM.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Looks like the brother is still kickin'. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
