Yes, records that sell several millions of copies worldwide are definitely flops. Listen most records filed under the "industrial" or "industrial rock / metal" (as in NIN's case) categories don't sell more than several thousand copies each. There are like 20-40 acts in the whole scene who manage to make a proper living out of making music like that.

Of course, NIN are a sellout. Traitors!

From The Perfect Drug track to The Fragile album, it really sounded like he had run out of inspiration, and had become too comfortable with the NIN sound, IMO. Though I am really looking forward to this new album since Dave Grohl is on it.

On the contrary, I thought some of the instrumental tracks on The Fragile sounded very fresh and different for Trent.

I was about to start a thread on this@

For those unaware www.theninhotline.net has some great updates as well when news happens.

Now I'm starting to see there's a chance-still never believe too much until it's in my hands.

I don't know if I'd call it inspiration, but THe Fragile had almost put me to sleep. For a second I thought I was listening to Stabbing Westward interpret Moby, which would have actually sounded better than the stuff on The Fragile.

But there where momments, particulary some of the instrumental momments where it was kind of cool--very operatic. As aweful as this sounds though, I always expect at least 50% of a NIN albulm to be something I can shake my booty to--that's the beauty of Trent--he's the BeeGees of his supposed genre.

I hope he stops trying to be an artist for this one, and just gives me good verse-chorus/verse-chorus sing-along dance floor filler. It's about time he started acting like the like pop songstress Diva his bitch-ass really is.
