What was the best music video of 2004?

My vote would have to go to "Hey Mama" by the Black Eyed Peas. I couldnt get enough of it! I wanted to shake a tailfeather everytime it came on!

Fefe Dobson - Don't Go (Girls & Boys)
Directed by Rainbows & Vampires

Cutting edge directing team, Rainbows & Vampires, delivers a hip and fun new clip for female rocker, Fefe Dobson. The high energy video for "Don't Go (Boys & Girls)" is set in the heart of New York City, reflecting the retro-new wave sound of the new single.

The clip opens on a scene of Fefe and her guy, portrayed by Drake Bell ("High Fidelity," "The Amanda Show"), lounging around in a trendy downtown apartment. All of a sudden, they are being chased by two mysterious men in black. The couple climb down the fire escape and hop into a purring pink Cadillac. They once again give the guys the slip when they escape into the subway where posters come to life and moving graphics slink along the walls. Fefe is then transported to a fantastical, animated world of new wave punk images and New York-styled graphics. As they return to reality, they pull up to the front of the legendary CBGB's. The men are still hot on her tail but are stopped by the ominous bouncers outside. Inside, Fefe gives the wildy enthusiastic crowd a show of their lives. As the night ends, the camera sweeps into a sky filled with stars and a constellation of Fefe’s smiling face. Rainbows & Vampires has perfectly captured the ultra-cool New York scene in this beautifully shot, action-packed energetic video, and they have only just begun. Visions for the future of this creative team are vivid, and they are prepared to keep audiences entertained for a long time to come.

For me. I don't listen to the radio any more so the only way I can know what is really popular these days is by watching music videos.

Although, 95% of the time I change the channnel after watching/listening for about 10 seconds.

I'd probably have to agree, which is pretty sad. The video was good, but great? No. Been done before. Videos are sorely lacking in creativity and originality these days.

Same for me. It's funny though, that's all you need in order to be fully aware of what is going on these days in the commercial music marketplace.

Strangely enough, all 3 of Prince's videos from this year were really good.

None of the reliable videomakers were out this year (REM, Madonna, Radiohead, Beck, White Stripes). Gwen was good but c'mon, it's Alice In Wonderland.

I agree "Maps" was good. "Toxic" was entertaining too even though it's a direct rip just like Gwens (This time it's "Alias" which is MUCH more entertaining then this video. Watch it Wednesday people!).

So I vote for "Maps" and "Toxic" in an incredibly forgettable year.

My mind totally goes blank on these year-end things.

My two favorite videos of this past year were the endlessly entertaining "Lose My Breath". Not only do we get three sets of Destiny's Children, but we get them dancing in a way that makes Janet Jackson look like a slacker.

The other one was the new Nas video. I forget the name of the song but it's the one about his father. And the girls remind me of "Caberet"/juke joint. Very artistc, low key video.

"Bridging the gap"! My favorite. I also liked 'Toxic', 'All nite (don't stop)', 'Cinnamon Girl', 'Mosh', 'What you waiting for', All of Andre 3000's vids, 'Runnin (Dying To Live)', 'Hey Mama', and 'Jesus Walks'
