Madonna could carry a tune, i dunno why you say she couldn't sing a lick.
Of course Cyndi is an amzaing vocalist so the comparison vocal wise is evident.

And her first album IMO was never topped until "Like a Prayer," it was a great dance album

LAV is more of an album that was pop tartish

Lord have mercy. I like the woman and always have, but she cain't sang! Her voice has improved some over the years, but there was absolutely nothing about her voice at that time that stood out. You watch Blonde Ambition, probably one of my favorite concerts of all-time, and tell me she can sing. She sounds like shit, but it didn't matter; the rest of the presentation was so brilliant that she overcame it.

I happen to think she can sing.
Where did i say she was an amazing vocalist?

I don't recall quoting you as having said that. You said "i dunno why you say she couldn't sing a lick," and I was telling you why I know so.

confuse I criticized your opinion no more than you did mine. I don't think I was being harsh - just stating my reasons for my opinion.

Yes but you were insulting Queen Madonna. I think you must be a huge Janet fan.

Let's examine the lyrics, shall we?:

You must be my Lucky Star
'Cause you shine on me wherever you are
I just think of you and I start to glow
And I need your light
And baby you know

[Chorus:]

Starlight, starbright first star I see tonight
Starlight, [starbright] make everything all right
Starlight, starbright first star I see tonight
Starlight, [starbright] yeah

You must be my Lucky Star
'Cause you make the darkness seem so far
And when I'm lost you'll be my guide
I just turn around and you're by my side

[chorus]

Come on shine your heavenly body tonight
'Cause I know you're gonna make everything all right

You may be my lucky star
But I'm the luckiest by far

Just another mindless, co-dependent pop tune, to me. Gimme the "deep, worldly Madonna" anyday.

I totally agree! Don't get me wrong,"Lucky Star" is a fun dance track, but I prefer the Madonna songs that have a deeper message and purpose (like "Live To Tell" or "Substitute For Love").For this reason,I rarely listen to her first three albums anymore.Beginning with 'Like A Prayer' she entered her "serious artist" phase.

yeah the lyrics aren't brilliant but they're fun and danceable. You people haven't listened to any Kylie in your life obviously. No substance at all in her lyrics, but it's awesome dance music cause it's not so serious.
Though American Life has an ok dance beat, it's harder to get into the groove as compared to Holiday, and Music

This photo reminds me of Man Ray.

Anyway, the Madonna-Cyndi thing reminds me of Britney-Christina today.

And Madonna does have a nice voice now. Wait until you hear the Re-Invention Tour. I was shocked.

I always think Christina looks a bit like Cyndi. And, yes, it is a hommage to Man Ray (Cyndi has said so). But a very beautiful cover, I think.
