anyone else think Like a Hurricane is Neil Young's greatest ever song?

There are so many to choose from

but these lyrics

Once I thought I saw you in a crowded hazy bar,
Dancing on the light from star to star.
Far across the moonbeam I know that’s who you are,
I saw your brown eyes turning once to fire.

You are like a hurricane
There’s calm in your eye.
And I’m gettin’ blown away
To somewhere safer where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but I’m getting blown away.

I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream,
You could have been anyone to me.
Before that moment you touched my lips
That perfect feeling when time just slips
Away between us on our foggy trip.

You are like a hurricane
There’s calm in your eye.
And I’m gettin’ blown away
To somewhere safer where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but I’m getting blown away.

You are just a dreamer, and I am just a dream.
You could have been anyone to me.
Before that moment you touched my lips
That perfect feeling when time just slips
Away between us on our foggy trip.

You are like a hurricane
There’s calm in your eye.
And I’m gettin’ blown away
To somewhere safer where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but I’m getting blown away
.

Top five song for him, for sure - and one of his most reliable live numbers,,,

Losing End is my personal favourite, but undoubtedly that's partly due to it not being overexposed.

Maybe you're living in some kind of bizarro world where good is bad and bad is good...
I love Neil Young but I hate Greendale!

well, the movie of it sucks, i'll agree with you there. i freakin' LOVE the album, though. i do think i live in a bizarro world where neil young is concerned, though. everything else he's ever done that i've heard just grates on my last damn nerve. shrug

Isn't "Greendale" a new album (and I assume song). If you're not a fan of Neil, how did you even go about hearing it?

I think "Like a Hurricane" is a great track. It's strangely beautiful, like a lot of his songs.

Greendale was released in 2003, I've got the one with bonus DVD. It's a great album, but I've got better Neil Young albums.

By the way, did you know David Bowie was listening to a Neil Young album when he first heard Zowie was born. Inspired by the birth of his son in combination with the Neil Young album he wrote Kooks.

Hurricane is one of his best for sure.

Also like Needle and the Damage Done,
Ohio,
Walk On,
Tonight's The Night,
Don't Let It Bring You Down,
Southern Man
My My Hey Hey
Harvest Moon
Down By The River
Helpless
Cowgirl In The Sand

...and SO many more...Neil Young was, is, and will always be one of my top 5 artists of all time.

Greendale is ok...not one of my favorites though...a lot of Neils stuff grows on me (Tonight's The Night is now my fave album but I HATED it for years)...but so far Greendale just isn't doing it for me.

It's a great song, but not his best. "Ordinary People" is. You won't find it anywhere but bootlegs though, which is a great pity.

I never listen to Greendale. Turgid, misguided, lumpen, boring, utterly predictable. Except for "Bandit", which is one of his finest songs.

Kinaldo, you are absolutely right.

Like a Hurricane is one of my all time favorite songs (and my favorite Neil Young song).
Great lyrics, and indeed incredible guitarsolo.. shivers down my spine.
The Unplugged version of Like a Hurricane is also very nice, but it sounds very sad.

Needle And The Damage Done

I caught you knockin'
at my cellar door
I love you, baby,
can I have some more
Ooh, ooh, the damage done.

I hit the city and
I lost my band
I watched the needle
take another man
Gone, gone, the damage done.

I sing the song
because I love the man
I know that some
of you don't understand
Milk-blood
to keep from running out.

I've seen the needle
and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
But every junkie's
like a settin' sun.
