Unless you're a die-hard of her, I don't see a lot of people running to snatch up a new album. True, but the same thing could be said for Cher throughout most of the 90s.Then in 1999,she released 'Believe' and the CD sold 10 million copies. All it takes is one monster hit song.

Hopefully someone wil figure this one out before it gets out of hand and release the full album. "Valley Of The Moon" might be interesting. All of the titles sound good. "Til You Get It" and "Work It" are probably hot dance/R&B songs while "Tearing Down The Berlin Wall" and "Half the Battle" might be political and/or emotional. I was hoping that,by now,the entire 'Angel' album would be circulating on bootlegs! This is what happened with the 'I'm A Rainbow' project. After it was shelved back in 1981,bootleg copies began circulating among fans for many years. Finally,in 1996,it was officially released.

She did make a new album but Sony did not release it and slowly, it will probably be heard through one off singles, compilation fillers, soundtracks, TV shows or other areas. You should check out some of her newer stuff. The new collection is a good place to get an overview. She's been tearing up the dance charts since her Sony contract in 1999 with singles through various areas, including the "Pokemon" ballad turned club remixed hit "The Power Of One". there's a club mix of this? good to know, because last year, i was putting together a Donna Summer 2-disc anthology for my mom and doanloaded this song (and the edit of "The Journey" .... or a different one, i don't remember), and thought "oh christ, wtf am i gonna do with this?"). guess i'll replace it with the remix for her now "The Power Of One" was released as a regular cardboard and plastic cased single, with the soundtrack verison and an instrumental and as a maxi, with four, maybe five different dance club remixes. I'm sure it's still available somewhere. I don't think "The Power Of One" was ever released on any Donna albums, despite reaching number two on the dance charts. Many people figured the ballad would be a hit, based on the first movie and the success of it's first single by then unknown (and again unknown) M2M. But the movie only did OK compared to the first and the "Pokemon" movie enterprise died not to long after that. The movies ended up playing on smaller and smaller scales. Needless to say, the franchaise dying also killed any possiblty of this really nice power ballad being a hit, even though it sounded like most ballads on AC radio (it got a few spins at the Meijer I worked at and their light to middle pop rock feed). It was probably Donna's first big attmept as a ballad of this type as a major single and unfornately, none one outside of her hardcore fans probably picked up on it and the fact that Donna can put most AC divas to shame. You should definately try to find the remixes.

Just to reiterate their answers, she's actually one of the top 100 R&B recording artists of all time. She's had several #1s to her name. If you like those few songs you're familiar with, it's worth it to explore her catalogue. If you don't like the (depending on the period), you're best to just skip her stuff entirely. Personally speaking, I'm fond of her early work when there was a lot more jazz and "acid" type influence in her music.

I only know the 2 big hits she had....and that is enough for me Sounds like you need Finesse to sit you down and give you a stern talking to about 70's music (and 80's and 90's music, since Donna's had major hits in all 3 decades)! [Edited 12/29/04 13:29pm] i appreciate that... but i think david got it covered but if i need to i will jump in
