8701 & Confessions Masterpieces ?

I was watching/listening to MuchMusic where they have many music channels. Well, I was listening too the Classic R&B station. They always have information on the side about the artist or type of music.

Well they had types of music. They named some masterpieces. Off The Wall, Purple Rain, What's Goin On, Stand and so forth, you get the picture, classic R&B Albums. Then I see Usher's names with 8701 and Confessions. What dosn't belong

I actually like some of the singles from 8701. But these new ones just suck.

he was actually enjoyable up until this "Confessions" BS which sounds like 8701 the sequel...just too much Usher Overkill this pat year.

Exactly. And I would have welcomed the current Usher obsession for the last album.

He seemed young, cool and fresh then. These new tracks are slow and dull. Plus, he's getting WAY too big for his britches.

"Confessions" is garbage, 8701 & My Way are better albums but I wouldn't call them "masterpeices".

The same here. And I honestly don't think the people could listen to the "Confessions" song with a straight face in a few years. Either way, way to soon to call either a classic.

Um...these albums are not really any different than a good Jon B, Case, Jaheim, or even a Joe record. It's Usher's stablility good looks and dance movies that help him push his records also.

Anyway, I also welcomed him alot with 8701 like Cinister said, he had nice singles, he wasnt talkin shit about Madonna ("she hasnt impressed me at all" bitch what the fuck she gotta impress yo ass for, she had hits when u were still in second grade fucker... disbelief ). Confessions and Let It Burn are ok singles, but There wasnt anything danceable on the record other than "Yeah" "Caught Up" and "Red Light"..the rest of it was mid-tempo "r u cheatin" "i was cheatin" or "sex me up" jams.

If you think Cofessions is a classic you are already in hell (LOL) A CD would have to be out for a bit before someone can stamp classic on it and the public makes that decision buy continuing to purchase CD. Do you think people will still be buying Usher's cd's 10 or 20 years down the road?

Buying an album is one thing. Just because lots of people buy something doesn't instantly make it "classic". Whether people still give a fuck about it a few years down the line is another thing, and in 2-3 years I really don't think people are going to care what Usher's doing. wink

So Britney Spears' ...Baby One More Time and N'Sync's first two records are classics because they sold millions of copies? Hmmmmm, let me think about that for a second.

NOPE!
