Rick James 1989 Album

David Eye started a thread a while back about an unreleased 1990 album called "Kickin". My brother-in-law has a 45 that I just assumed was from that album. On Christmas Eve, I borrowed the 45 from him and burned myself a copy. The name of it is "This Magic Moment" and it is a remake of the old song. The sound of it reminds me of "Sexual Luv Affair" and of course, it's not the Rick James sound I know and love but I still wanted it to complete my collection.

Anyway, the 45 has a 1989 copyright and it says it is from the album "Rock, Rhythm, & Blues". At first, I thought maybe he had later changed the name of the album to "Kickin" like he did previously when the 45 of "17" had from the forthcoming album "Shower of Hits" but it was later called "Reflections". I checked the track list for "Kickin" and "This Magic Moment" is not on there. That means there is a 1989 album out there.

Does anyone have any info?

Rock, Rhythm and Blues was a compilation album released on Warner's in 89. To my knowledge, this track was never attached to a Rick James lp, released or unreleased.

That's correct. The 'Rock,Rhythm and Blues' project featured a bunch of different artists remaking old classics.I believe El DeBarge was another featured artist on that album.

Rick has an unreleased album from this period (called 'Kickin') but "This Magic Moment" was not part of the tracklist.
