Motely Crue Reunion seems to be a bunch of crap according to Tommy Lee

I knew the resolve in Motley Crue was too good to be true-I was skeptical when Tommy Lee and Vince Neil said they've patched things up being that just a few months ago they couldn't even be in the same room together. This totally kills my buzz for the show I"m seeing in March. Granted, I knew the reunion was all about $$ but can't Tommy at least pretend they're getting along? Hope the tour even rides through all the cities--I'm sensing we may not get as much of the Crue that we're anticipating.

From contactmusic.com 12/22/04

MOTLEY CRUE REUNION IS 'WACK', SAYS TOMMY LEE

LATEST: Rocker TOMMY LEE has killed fans' excitement over MOTLEY CRUE's reunion - by announcing the music they're currently making is "kind of wack".

Lee, NIKKI SIXX, VINCE NEIL and MICK MARS recently confirmed reports they're planning to get back into the studio together and then embark on a two-year world tour in February (05), after six years apart.

And while fans look forward to the re-teaming, Lee, who is still on unfriendly terms with Neil after the two had a fistfight six years ago, remains unenthusiastic.

He tells BLENDER magazine, "This whole thing's kind of wack. I'm not sure any of (the songs) are that great.

"To be honest, I don't even know why we're doing this interview."

He adds, "One thing I don't miss about Motley Crue is seeing Vince's bloated, disrespectful a** every day."

Neil has taken steps to ensure there's no tension on the tour, by insisting everybody has their own tour bus.

Kind of wack would describe just about any song Tommy Lee did with Methods of Mayhem. So he should be all for it!

I heard on TV this morning that Vince Neil said something to Tommy Lee "Happy Fucking New Year, TOmmy," I think? Am I the only one who senses the sarcasm here between the two? ANyway, apparently the FCC is all over the incident..

Yeah! Something tells me is he bummed the solo career never took off. Methods Of Mayhem only had one hit (if "Get Naked" was a hit) based on a novetly video and song that gets played whenever Vh1 talks about the sex tape or anything invovling nudity!

They only complain when it's Howard Stern or Janet! It's all such a joke. Metal covered boob, bad! Sex talk, bad! F-bomb...hmmmm. If the FCC is going to fine Janet and Howard for unclear things, then I think an F-bomb is something that is cearly fine worthy (not that the FCC ever really had this power). Also, keep in mind this happened days ago, so the complaints won't start until the housefruas have time to organize!

Most of the losers in this band are in need of money that's why they have gotten together for a reunion. Tommy, on the other hand has kept busy and has made money on his own. I don't think Tommy wanted to do the reunion, but the others apparently talked him into it and convinced him of how much money there was to be made from it. 99% of the time a reunion means "we're broke and need more money".

He didn't have to agree to it. And if things keep going the way they are (at least according to the media), we may not even see a reunion tour. (ANd I won't be happy!)

Actually Nikki Sixx is doing pretty well for himself. My old company used to do his PR when he was a spokesperson for the electronics company JVC (I've got his autograph on my desk- hee hee) He's a really nice guy! (And pretty sexy underneath all the tattoos)

I"m not comparing who's the better band. I'm comparing the circumstances of both reunion tours in 2004 and 2005, respectively. VH was all about the VH brothers hating DLR and Sammy. Remember the irony of the whole DLR and Sammy Hagar co-headlined tour a few years ago? Both of them weren't saying the nicest things about VH and then suddenly...VH is back? Because they suddenly put their egos aside? Of course...for the $$!

I'll say the same thing about my favorite band, FLeetwood Mac...their reunion tour was all about getting Mick fleetwood out of debt and getting Lindsey Buckingham's unreleased songs on an album the record label was willing to put out under FLEETWOOD MAC.

After they got dropped from their record company, the two remaining members of Duran Duran in 2000 allegedly was the reason they called the three other original members to stage a reunion. And they got a 5-record deal out of it.

I'm not complaining about this - I spent $$ they want so I can be in horny heaven when I go see Motley Crue and Duran DUran in the spring. I'm just not buying all this "We're all friends again - our music is better than it ever was" bullshit, in general. It's all about the retirement funds.

Actually, the Duran Duran thing isn't true. Simon, Warren and Nick sued to get out of their contract with Hollywood, since the label had done such a piss-poor job of promoting Pop Trash. John Taylor was the mastermind behind the reunion (and, he had actually started the ball in motion a few years earlier, when he tried to do a DD supergroup, basically including anyone who had ever been a member of the band. This idea never took off, but once he switched tactics to a reunion of the original five, things slowly started to take shape). Simon and Nick were actually the LAST members to join the reunion, not wanting to push aside Warren. When the opportunity came about for a Missing Person's reunion, right about the same time as the Duran one, Warren took it as a sign that it was time for him to go. Thus, the DD reunion happened. It had NOTHING to do with them being dropped from their label.

All that having been said, I'm sure the idea of major $$$$ was a huge factor in the band's decision to reunite

You are right- I got confused with the Medazzaland era....I stand corrected:

After close to 20 years with Capitol/EMI record label (Duran started on their Harvest label back in 1980), the band was dropped and left out in the cold after their last studio album called Medazzaland failed to meet expectations coupled with the loss of founding member bassist John Taylor just prior to the release in 1997. However, Capitol might not want them now but they currently are rehashing every last bit of profit they can get out of Duran's back catalogue by releasing "Night Versions" (fabo remixes of the hits) and the latest "Greatest" (a greatest hit CD including the post-'80s minor hits).
The remainder of the band - egomaniac lead singer Simon LeBon and the last original member keyboardist Nick Rhodes and the official post-Andy Taylor guitarist for almost 10 years, Warren Cuccurullo - are still trying to make it happen. It is almost official the band has signed with Hollywood Records (a division of Disney) via a Nick Rhodes interview on 8/18/99.

Well, shit, I'm sure they get complaints about everything. However, it is only the organization of the complaints that gets any attention. If a group, like the ones that go after Stern and went after Janet, got organized over this Motely incident, then their could be a fine. Something tells me they don't care, though.

I just read that some complaints about the broadcast have been filed so the FCC is indeed investigating it. But word is that probably no fines will be issued because it was after midnight and not during "family hour" or whatever it's called.

FCC is full of shit. First they make a big fucking deal out of Stern and his juevinille toilet humor. Then, they make an issue out of Janet and her titty. Now, its Vince's New Year's Slip of Tongue why don't these uptight fuckers give it a rest.

A little update to all of this: I have to wonder if the whole Vince/Tommy battle is actually just a publicity stunt to cash in on their past problems. Apparently, when Vince Neil got married this past weekend in Las Vegas, in attendance were Nikki Sixx and....you guessed it, Tommy Lee! Now, if these two were really at each other's throats, why would Tommy be invited to the wedding? Why would he even show up? Makes no sense.

Something tells me that these two have made-up, but are playing up their old rivalry to sell more CDs (and concert tickets). After The Dirt was so successful, primarily due to all the stories of strife in the band, it wouldn't surprise me if they were just putting on a show to keep the cash flowing in. Tommy's image as the "troublemaker" is good for, at the very least, capturing headlines.

It also seems like a good marketing ploy from the viewpoint that fans might be more inclined to shell out money for the tickets if they think that the reunion could fall apart at any minute. "Better see them now, because it might be your last chance!!!"
