I dunno - I definitely hear a ton of new wave in there, they're mixing rock and dance together like new wave did, but it doesn't REEK of homage, unlike Jet or the Vines. The whole record is pretty good... it's a New York kind of punk funk thing, I spose. But hey, I'm old, so, maybe I don't see the lack of freshness.
