No, the majority of music is just crap nowdays. shrug

*and if I'm "out of touch" then I'd like to stay that way. biggrin

There is a lot of crap now yes. But there was a lot of crap in 8ts 9ts 7ts 6ts or 5ts. Its always been like that. There is a lot of good music these days. there is always a lot of good music. There was always a lot of crap in the top 40. I am 36, i did everything for the first time( well, the interresting stuff smile in the 8ts. Thats y 8ts music is special to me. But the 8ts where not really a decade of good music. There is a lot of good music these days. Go to a club, go to house or rave party. I have more fun on the dancefloor these days then 20 years ago.
Prince is great, but there are more great artists. Prince did not invent music. A lot of ppl think that prince songs sound alike. and they have a point. Is that a problem? no.....2 each his own. FREE UR MIND AND UR ASS WILL FOLLOW!!!

Um, I go to plenty of clubs, or DID rather, but now I just can't stand any of the music that's being played. I'd rather go see some unknown bands play than listen to what's being played at clubs. It's a hundred times better by far IMO. shrug At least those people are up there actually playing an instrument and just doing what they love. I'm over rave parties (do they still even HAVE those? confuse )

And what does Prince have to do with this and how does he relate to my comment above? I actually haven't even listened to Prince since probably June when I saw him on tour. I'm sure there is plenty of good music out there now, it's just that I don't have the energy to dig for it which is what you have to do to hear anything remotely interesting these days. I just don't feel like wading through loads of crap to find it. I personally feel that there were more creative and innovative artists back in the day. My favorite decades for music are the 60s and 70s, and I'm sure it will always stay that way for me. Sure, there was cheesy crap back then as well, but even the bad music of those decades was ten times better than most of the stuff being overplayed on the top 40 today. This is why I've never listened to top 40 radio. (at least not since the 70s)

I dunno. I think crappy songs like "Winchester Cathedral" and "They're Coming To Take Me Away" are just as bad as any crap that's out today.

I agree with everything you said! Even the bad songs from the 70s sound better than the crap that pollutes the Top 40 these days.

Hmm, which is worse, "One Bad Apple" by the Osmonds or "Rumors" by Lindsay Lohan?

I think I'd rather listen to Lindsay.

"Rumors" sounds like a baby Britney song. I actually like it better then her misguided attempt at remaking "My Perogative".

I must agree! IF u are looking for GOOD MUSIC of today, DO NOT look to top 40..you will have to wade through the crap...at least you can say that while there was CRAP that came out of the 60's-70's, the GOOD music actually got acknowledged and respected too....the "Whats Going On's", the "Spuerfly's", etc

it seems as if the GOOD music of today is almost pushed down and repressed by radio..its like in order to be on the radio these days, you gotta have a certain amount of "dumb" factor...LOL!

I agree and I don't have the money to waste by taking a chance when I buy an album by a new artist. Radio needs to get up off it's ass and start being more diverse but until Clear Channel is dethroned, that's not going to happen any time soon.
