They're sometimes better than the A-side. Donna's "I Feel Love" was the B-side of "Can't We Just Sit Down And Talk It Over?"

All by Tori Amos:
alamo upside down thoughts sugar flying dutchman here in my head sister janet honey black swan purple people (xmas in space) bachelorette never seen blue beulah land cooling mountain merman She had many many more but a lot of those are covers and weird stuff. All extremely well executed and beautiful, but the list above are a few of her real proper "B-sides" written and performed by her. In most cases these songs can be considered the equivalent of what songs like "17 Days" or "She's Always In My Hair" is on a Prince 12" Incredible material which is for some daunting reason left off the albums as it can compete with anything on the albums. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Do you wanna know the truth? I've heard very little of Kate Bush. Probably only about 5 songs. But they never really impressed me. But the thing is, I really want to like her. Most of my friends have been into her at one point or another. And I know she probably just takes work like most good musicians do. But part of me is avoiding her because I've been hearing about the similarities to Tori for years. My childhood best friend told me it's scary how much they're related. And ever since then, I haven't wanted to destroy my notions of how original and one-of-a-kind my Tori is.

But part of me is avoiding her because I've been hearing about the similarities to Tori for years. My childhood best friend told me it's scary how much they're related. And ever since then, I haven't wanted to destroy my notions of how original and one-of-a-kind my Tori is. This notion that Tori and Kate are SOO SOO similar has been bandied about ever since Tori hit the scene, but I think it's nonsense. I love Kate, I loved her in the 80's before Tori even had a record deal. I am a devoted Tori fan. They are similiar in some superficial ways - at times their voices sound eerily similar (like on the "peel out the watchword" part of Cornflake Girl.) Really, is that Tori's fault? They are both women making brillint, thoughtful music. Kate's tends to be much more otherworldy and "out-there". Tori's music is much more intimate and personal and confessional. Kate tends to tell more stories w/ her songs. Their songwriting style is very different, as is the production of their music. I don't see alot of connection between the two. I've always blamed all this talk on lazy music journalist who see 2 women making deep music with slighly similiar voices, and since Kate came first then Tori MUST be ripping off Kate? Nonsense. Is Tori supposed to change the way she sings for fear of being seen to emulate Kate? They are both great, visionary artists, and are both very different despite a few similarities. Sorry for the rant. Back to the topic at hand: B-Sides Kate has some GREAT ones, especially: "Ran Tan Waltz" and, one of her best songs, the utterly gorgeous "Under the Ivy".
