it's sad to say that Van only gets airplay for Down Here on Midnight Love on BET.
Anthony album has been out a hot minute and over the summer people asked me what I was listening to and I said Anthony Hamilton and they looked at me like I was an alien or something so he's living on a wing and a prayer with Charlene

Lewis Taylor - "Stoned Pt.2"
Okay not his best but is a deserving artist nonetheless. Musiq - "Soulstar" Why isn't this guy gettin' the props he righfully deserves and Y do ppl diss him for THAT afterparty? Marques Houston - "MH" Getting out of the shadows of 'Roger' must be difficult. This is actually a great album which he should have done when Shyheim a.k.a The Rugged Childs voice broke! This album needs 2 be given a chance IMHO. 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

A HUGE improvement over the disappointing "Want One," and his best collection yet, me thinks. Finally, the songs don't all sound the same. Wow... I absolutely LOVE Want One. I played it non-stop last year. Want Two was a bit of a let down for me. Still good but it didn't give me that "gotta play it first thing in the morning" addiction like Want One.

None of the tracks reallys stood out for me on "Want One," or at least, took a really long time to distinguish themselves. But I realy prefer him working in more intimate modes. I'm not a big fan of epic, opera stuff, like, um operas. I'm more a folky guy, love the off-the-cuff feel of the songs on "Want Two"

He ain't worth a nickle IMHO(Esp live) and his voice is so bland I don't feel shit when he sings to be honest. But I'll give him credit for his writting skills.

PhilG said: allmusic.com review: Artist Incognito Album Adventures in Black Sunshine Review by Jonathan Widran It's funny how every time another phenomenally funky, brass-fired groove party comes out in the shape of another solid Incognito date, the label touts it as "retro." This time, Narada Jazz's press materials focus on all of group mastermind Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick's influences in order to remind listeners that he's a child of the '70s. But the basic soul vibe of that decade has been the defining element of Incognito's sound since their first disc in the early '80s. The big story on 2003's Who Needs Love was the inclusion of a Brazilian vibe via Ed Motta, and here it's the return after several albums of the honey soul-voiced Maysa Leak, who was a big part of the group's rise to acid jazz prominence in the early '90s. Depending on the intensity of the groove, Leak's cool vibes add breeze or urgency over the course of her seven tracks — from the laid-back seduction of "Don't Turn My Love Away" to the more danceable and emotionally charged "Everything Your Heart Desires" and the moody, socially conscious "This Thing Called Love." Listening to the irrepressible instrumentals, which keep the groove moving under increasingly snazzy horn fire, it's clear the kind of impact Incognito has had on newer Brit outfits like Down to the Bone. "The 25th Chapter" rolls on and on like a disco on fire (with jazzy flute pepper trying to put it out), while no less than George Duke (another '70s-minded jazz-funk genius) spices up the spacy soul jam "Mindin' My Business" with some out-there Rhodes improvisations. Even with some 1,000 musicians passing through Incognito's ever-revolving doors and ever-evolving sound, Maunick's admiration for the soul music that first inspired him comes through brilliantly every time out. This chick's voice is the bomb! I had no idea this album is out. Gonna go get it 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Ahh, well that certainly goes a long way towards explaining our different perspectives on this set. My ears tend to perk up at lush, operatic /cinematic music so the highly layered and orchestrated music of Want One was very appealing. I was actually rather surprised at the difference between the two CDs considering that a large majority of the material was all recorded around the same time.

Many if not most Mos Def heads I have spoken to (10-12 at most) were disappointed in the album, and I found it and Talib Kweli's joint to be among the MOST disappointing of the year. "Tommy" is a wild movie. Ken Russell is a very extravagant director. very disturbing because of the whole abuse and drug thing. Anne Margaret rocked though.

Tina Turner was naive about her character and the whole movie,,,when she saw that needle she screamed at the dirctor "My god, does this movie support drug use?" everybody on the set were laughing after she said that

If that's true that is hilarious. Patti Labelle's performance was even more over-the-top then Tina's during The Who's reunion concert. But I like this movie. It makes MTV look even more boring and deader then it actually is.

I'll say "America's Sweetheart" is the most slept on album of the past year, but it's her own fault. Aside from her circus show behavior this year her voice is just ravaged beyond repair on this album.
