That old school song in the Land Rover commercials Has anyone seen this commercial? It's got this TIGHT ass song (sounds like the 60s) in it. Does anyone know who/what this song is? The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community. | |

I was curious about this also.
Turns out it's a 60s group from Seattle called The Sonics. The song used in the ad is called Have Love Will Travel...

Holy shit ! My cousin moved to England a long time ago and she has been with Billy Childish for a long time. Don't know if you know him, he's also a painter and poet and his group is called The Headcoats. Anyway, they broke up recently but she has recorded some songs with him over the past 20 years... I think her voice is pretty awful, but there was one song on one of her albums which I did like, and it is called "Have love will travel" I don't have the album here at my place to check it, but if it's the same song, that means that the only song of hers that I ever loved is not hers !  | |

Don't know if I've seen the Land Rover spot, but I'll check out the song for sure.
One of my favorite genre's right now is music from commercials. I'm always listening to vh1.com's "Pop for Sale" station. (And if you're ever curious about an ad tune visit adtunes.com.) Mr. Scruff's "Get a Move On" from the Lincoln Continental ads is a favorite. I'm also lovin' the HP digital camera ad and the Kinks' "Photo Book" song. Gosh, I've got so many others. | |

My curiosity got the better of me again, so I decided to hunt down the origins of this tune.
The piece was written by a gentleman named Richard Berry... 
...Have "LOUIE" Will Travel *(the same Richard Berry who wrote and recorded Louie Louie in 1957!) This is an important collection in so many ways. For starters, it contains the original versions of two of rock'n'roll's greatest anthems in Louie, Louie and Have Love, Will Travel. This alone would be enough to qualify the "important" word. But aside from that, the CD is an invaluable documentation of R&B's evolution into early soul, and how easy the transition from one thing to the other was for Richard Berry. *When Richard Berry sold his 'little song' for a few hundred dollars so that he could get married, he could not have had any idea of the millions of dollars that were saying 'me gotta go' to him. A prolific songwriter and self confessed 'studio hound', Richard had appeared on countless recordings, under many different group names. He had a bunch of hits at Modern Records, and then moved to Flip. Louie Louie was initially the flip of his second 45 for the label, but was quickly flipped to the top deck. It still wasn't a hit.
