When people talk about Madonna or MJ being the greatest live performer, they seriously have never seen Tina.

a-fucking-men! i regret never being able to see her live. seeing her do Proud Mary in person is on my checklist of things to do before i die. i just get goosebumps watching her do it on SNL a few years ago. "Awards are like hemorrhoids. Sooner or later, every asshole gets one."

The song is OK but it's not one of my favorite Tina Turner songs. My absolute favorite Tina Turner song is "Nutbush City Limits". Andy is a four letter word.

I saw her on VH1 a few years ago on "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert" and she was abolutely wild. I haven't seen anyone with as much energy as her. Andy is a four letter word.

A very sexy, sleazy Tina sings with Ike on Otis' "I've been loving you too long to stop now" from
"Ike and Tina Turner Revue - Live at Carnegie Hall" (I have it on vinyl - don't know if it's even on CD). *****************************************

Must give some props to the production. Although most of today's non-singers would have been smothered like fiberglass inside the wall of sound.

It says in her book that it was her 1st major UK hit and introduction to the British audience. As 4 Miss thang,,Acid Queen,,, -W/Janice Joplin I think Otis Redding would be proud of her heartwrenching rendition of "I've Been Loving You For Too Long"

This song rocks! I saw the video to "Soul to Soul" the other day and it reminded me of how much Tina can shake a tail feather. Folks always talk about MJ, MC Hammer and Usher's moves, but Tina could/can get down!

Ike hated it because he had no involvement.
It swings. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

PLAY THAT RECORD AS LOUD AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN. You'll find it's not unlike riding in a 747 with the top down. Amazing. I remember hearing that Spector had quite literally tested her limits--they actually performed tests to see what was indeed possible with her voice. He later claimed she was the most perfect 'instrument' he'd ever worked with. One of my favorite stories about the recording of River Deep, Mountain High involves one of the great lost photo-ops of all time. Spector had endlessly pushed and pushed Tina, take after take, trying to take RDMH to the other-worldly stratospheric summit he envisioned. Finally, drenched in sweat, the moment of truth came . . The World's Greatest Heartbreaker ditched her soaking blouse, stripped down to her bra--took a breath, then blasted the rafters off the place.
That's entertainment. I love Ike and Tina and have spent many years trying my best to track down everything they ever did. I'm especially fond of the early screechy screamers, way before Proud Mary rolled. It's not such an easy task acquiring the stuff. They recorded for so many labels and there's yet to be a truly comprehensive compilation released (say, like the James Brown 'Star Time' box). I bought tons of their vinyl over the years--but unfortunately, my collection is being stored far away in my parents' basement. Luckily I have since had some semi-decent luck getting a lot of the stuff on cd. There's been very little remastering done to their work, save for a couple of comps put out of their Kent releases. Otherwise, the label Collectibles has kindly re-issued their first original albums. And for those who were asking, their cunnilingilicious cover of 'I've Been Loving You Too Long' is available on cd (the smokin' live version is on 'What You Hear is What You Get: Live at Carnegie Hall' & the studio can be found on the two-fer 'The Hunter/Outta Season'). There's one needle in the Turner haystack I've yet to track down on cd--and that's their amazing rendition of 'I Wish it Would Rain' that they did for Minit--In my opinion, Tina's reading might just possibly eclipse the Temps'. I haven't heard it in years. If anyone has a lead, please let me know. Got to see Ike live in a club a couple of years back, but sadly, I still never have seen The Hardest Workin' Lady in Show Bizness. There's gotta be a gasp or two left in those legs . . .they need to strut a stage again. They HAVE to . .please God.
