PJ Harvey on cover of BUST

And there is an amazing interview too. I love these tidbits of info.

Where did you go dancing?

I can't remember what's it called, but [the first night] it was a good night 'cause they were playing The Smiths and Joy Division. Last night they were just playing Madonna and it was horrible.

You don't like Madonna? Have you met?

Not to dance to, I like to dance to Joy Division. I have, yeah.

What was your first band?

It was at school. [There were] three of us, we were called The Stone Weaklings. We did covers of The Cult, The Cure and B-52 songs.

Do you still sculpt?

I don't really anymore. When I was at art-college- we're talking when I was 21- I got a place to do a degree course at a well-known art-school in London called St. Martin's. I was going to do a degree in sculpting, and I deferred for a year because I was already out playing with my three-piece rock band by that time and got picked up by my first label, Too Pure. So I deferred, thinking I'll make a record, disappear from the face of the earth and [then] go back to college

Something to fall back on...

I continue to make things for myself, but I don't call them sculpture, they're just playthings, really. I enjoy playing with objects and shapes, and I like drawing; sometimes I go to life classes when I'm at home for any period of time.

Not to dance to,

confuse They must have been playing "Live To Tell", otherwise that makes no sense to me.

It does to me. Madonna is for certain people in certain moods. It's campy. Innit?

Yeah, and usually that mood is narrowed down to "only for dancing".

The biggest artist in the history of dance music is bound to make at least one person walk off the dancefloor. You can't please everybody.
