MADONNA "RAY OF LIGHT" SURVIVOR *ROUND 1* CLOSED

1998....another reinvention... newfound spiritulity...the inspiration of little Lourdes...all of this comes together for what some critics hailed as Madonna's best album to date: The Grammy-winning RAY OF LIGHT.

Here's the tracklist:

Drowned World/Substitute For Love
Swim
Ray Of Light
Candy Perfume Girl
Skin
Nothing Really Matters
Sky Fits Heaven
Shanti/Ashtangi
Frozen
The Power Of Goodbye
To Have And Not To Hold
Little Star
Mer Girl

THis is going to be a hard survivor for me...I love this record! OK so I'm going to vote off the song that instantly became the "skip over" song, "Shanti/Ashtangi."

On a side note...when I first saw this picture back in '98 I was convincd Madge was hanging out with Stevie Nicks (or hoping!!) razz

Shanti/Ashtangi

In a way I hope Drowned World/Substitute For Love wins, because I think it's really beautiful.

If not then, please:

Frozen
Ray Of Light
The Power Of Good-bye (LOVE it!)
Sky Fits Heaven
Candy Perfume Girl

I love this whole album. I even do like Shanti/Ashtangi, but it's my least favorite, so I have to vote it off, too. My favorites from this album are "The Power of Goodbye" and "Sky Fits Heaven".
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

I'll join the crowd and vote off "Shanti/Ashtangi." I like the track and differing samples running throughout it, but her delivery leaves some to be desired.

"Little Star" should be next. It's too damn fluffy. lol

Favorites:

Swim
Candy Perfume Girl
Sky Fits Heaven
Frozen
To Have and Not to Hold

You forgot yoga. This was the time when she wouldn't STFU about yoga and how it changed her damn life.

Looking back on it, damn, that was a great album. Frankly, she did nothing else after that, she could have went out in style, not to say that it's follow ups weren't worthy of a release.

I guess I'll vote of "Shanti/Ashtangi". It's just not as natural as most of the other songs.

Damn. I feel like I should sit this round out. But I can't. I honestly love all of these songs. Ones that I used to think were my least favorite are now some of my very favorites. Looking back though, the least substantial would have to be "Shanti/Ashtangi". Love it. Can sing every word. But the others are better.

argh, I can't stand it. First round and already people are voting off
"Mer Girl" which is her most intimate, personal, weird and haunting
song ever.

I don't want to vote any songs off this album, but I'll stop being a
big pussy and vote anyway:

"Shanti/Ashtangi"

same thing... they are both prayers said during yoga... though cyberraga is a prayer for peace... and she was going to give it a different name... something with the US... but she decided against it

That'd be me! lol It's just not my fave track on there. I skip both that one and Little Star. It was just first in line.
