TLC news. "Nothing has changed. We're not replacing Lisa," Thomas told The Associated Press in a recent interview.

I apologize if this has already been posted but according to Chilli and T-Boz, this UPN talent show is for a one track and a one time performance. Could be interesting. Here is the full AP story.

T-Boz, Chilli Look for Collaborators

Dec 18, 3:09 PM (ET)

By The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) - Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas and Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins are looking to collaborate with a new voice, but the TLC stars insist they're not trying to replace the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes.

"Nothing has changed. We're not replacing Lisa," Thomas told The Associated Press in a recent interview. "We're not looking for a new member."

Last month, the pair announced they were launching a search to find a vocalist to perform with them in concert and for one track on TLC's upcoming greatest hits project - a journey that will be the subject of a UPN reality show, "R U The Girl with T-Boz and Chilli."

Some fans were concerned that Thomas and Watkins were seeking to fill the shoes of Lopes, who died in a car crash in Honduras in 2002.

But the duo said then that they would never try to replace Lopes - perhaps the most dynamic member of the trio, with her colorful personality and energetic raps. Instead, they say they're simply looking for a fan to perform with them for a one-time performance and for a song on the greatest hits project.

"We started out with our fans and it's all about our greatest hits," Thomas said. "Basically, we are trying to give back to our fans and find one girl and give her a chance of a lifetime, to do one last performance with TLC."

"We kind of call it, like, fan appreciation," said Watkins. "We started together and we want to end it together, and that's something that Lisa would have been fond of."

TLC, which debuted in 1992, ranks as one of the best-selling girl groups in pop music history. Their multiple hits include "Unpretty,""Waterfalls,""Creep" and "No Scrubs." Their last full album was 2002's "3D."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they just release a greatest hits? Keep in mind, they are saying this is a one time thing but let's say they "bond" (lets say the track is a hit and people accept this new girl). I wonder what they will be saying then. I'm just glad for now this appears to be a one time thing for a fan.

What is the point of the show, anyway, if not to replace Lisa? To make it abundandly clear that she's easily replaceable by finding a rent-a-Lisa for a day?

I think they're trying to imply this is somehting they wanted to do if one of them was dead or not. I highly doubt that!

nod Exactly. It's funny they are supposedly in neogotiations w/VH1 to do a series where it documents their search for 3rd singer to replace Lisa.

"Fan appreciation", huh?

Generally speaking, I think fans always appreciate when the original line-up isn't toyed with.

I don't think it would be so bad if they just came right out and said, "look we gotta make a living." But, they messed up by saying that TLC was through. It's not their fault she passed and it wouldn't be the first time a group replaced a fallen member. But, again, they talked so much about not doing anything else after 3D that this all looks bad.

I stil have a wait and see attitude but I do have a strong idea that they will be sooo smitten with this new singer, ah hell, make her a new member and let the beat go on. If that happens, I'll cry foul!

at this point, does it really matter??

Their last album with Lisa (which you would think would draw the most interest) did squat!!

I think they're going solo. At least, that's what I heard. But with this news, who knows?
