Abbey Road: The Beatles Best Album? I've only recently been serious about getting into the Beatles and so far I think I'm leaning towards nominating Abbey road as the best. Paul's whole mini-symphony, both george and ringo's best songs, good old fashion heavy guitars, come together, it's just a fabulous listen. | |

Yep, Lennon didn't like that part of the album and it's the best part of it.
A lot of people around here say The White Album is their best album, but not in my book. There's a flow that the greatest albums always have, Abbey Road has that flow. The second half itself is a desert island disc, and it's immaculately produced. But I can do without Ringo's turn at the mic. If only I had more time to contribute more to this thread. Its certianly a great accomplishment, and an excellent way to end the Beatles as a group.
I dig the whole vibe on it.. I am one that will say White Album is their greatest work.. but lets face it, what album isnt too far behind? Revolver, Rubber Soul, Magical Myst, Sgt. pepper, Abbey.. Thats five 5-star albums.. The white album, imo, was ahead of its time.. From the way lennon, mccartney talked about it.. it reminded me of how Thom Yorke acted when he finished Kid A.. he said at the time he didnt like his voice.. and when he finished it.. he kindof was like "here it is.. and thats it" and I get the feeling they had that same attitude.. my point? i really dont have one.. im just comparing the genius behind their work.. sometimes it isnt so clear when your the creator of it, and maybe it doesnt fit the time, but the more it marinates and devolpes age.. the more it will shine in the future. | |

Any true for love for the Beatles would result in a personal "Best" when it comes to choosing such a thing. I mean to my tastes, Magical Mystery Tour is my "Favorite". But I see why people dig The White Album, Pepper, Abbey Road, etc.Isn't it really just a matter of preference?
It's all good!  Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way. | |

Abbey Road has always been my pick for best Beatles album. It is tight, very strong material (mostly), and very polished. It almost seems like they knew it would be the last, so they wanted to go out with a killer record.
Even the crap material ("Maxwell's Silver Hammer") has a place, it just wouldn't be the same without it. | |

i know im just nitpicking here but remember the beatles never released magical mystery tour as an album....their americian record company did that....m.m.t was released as an six track ep...great record mind you.  | |

I'm one of those people who actually wouldn't choose either Abbey Road or The White Album as the best this group has to offer -- which, in and of itself, is indicative of how truly brilliant The Beatles were. So much exceptional material to choose from...
My favorites are Rubber Soul and Revolver; I have difficulty choosing between them. | |

Thing is, they've made more GREAT albums...but if I had to pick one...It would be Abbey road..... Only the cover of the album is legendary.. Not to mention the songs!!

However the format means little. Magical Mystery Tour is the one I seem to turn to often. I don't even thing it's their strongest. I think Abbey Road for that. It's just my personal fave. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way. | |

Also, Lennon loathed Maxwell's Silver Hammer. I had a hard time getting into this album - but I do really, really like it. I think this album features some of George's strongest stuff.
My vote for best Beatles album, however, is Revolver. Second would be Rubber Soul. And my favorite Beatle was, is, and will always be: John Lennon. "She made me glad to be a man" | |

From Help to Let It Be...I am always changing my opinion on The Beatles best album. Kinda like someone we all know (1980-1987)?
Anyway, Abbey Road, will always be one of the best albums of ALL TIME...let alone from The Beatles. Too many classics on that one and the 2nd side is genius. Oh So Good! No matter, the time, no matter when I had just heard it. It has two of George;s best songs, Something & Here Comes the Sun, Pauls...Oh Darling & the whole 2nd side...John...Come Together...AND Ringo...Octopus' Garden. Brilliant! | |

I love the way "Mean Mr. Mustard" seques into "Polythene Pam."

There are so many Beatles albums that could be called their greatest. Personally, I'd go for Sgt Pepper, for A Day in the Life alone. I will never tire of that song! | |

i think in that order...but its hard to say really  ive never been good at picking favs....

The side two medley alone is worth the price of the album. McCartney's bass work on the ENTIRE album is simply amazing, GENIUS!! I LOVE Abbey Road. I rank it number one from my Beatles collection, followed closely by the White Album. Sgt. Pepper and Revolver are damn good too. I think I need to dust off my Beatles CDs. Absolutely! Side Two (as it was in vinyl days) is simply wonderful. I saw tribute band play it once, and to hear this medley live was just stunning. It was done by a Mexican tribute band playing at the Cavern Club in Liverpool and it sounded perfect, note-for-note. Fantastic stuff! | |

Tenacious D's version kills me everytime. Hearing Jack Black sing the drum solo and just the whole thing, it's priceless. As far as the best Beatles album, it's like choosing which child to kill, it's never gonna happen, love them all.  - edit[Edited 12/20/04 10:31am] | |
