The first time I heard that track I was in la-la land. mushy

Duran has sooooo many GREAT B-sides, up there with Prince and Tori B-sides, imo. If they released an album of their b-sides, I think people would be really impressed. Their best music would be found on a cd like that.

Secret Oktober
We Need You
Late Bar
Khanada
Like an Angel
Faith In This Colour

Actually, there are 2 b-side cds for sale over here: http://www.duran2.net/sho...mports.htm

Scroll down. wink

I'm a tad confused here.

How would Day Tripper be considered a "Non LP single/B-side" when it appears on...

...Yesterday...and Today

If comps don't count, here's a few more *Beatles tunes

From Me To You (b-side of Please Please Me)
I'll Get You (b-side of She Loves You)
You Can't Do That (b-side of Can't Buy Me Love)
She's A Woman (b-side of I Feel Fine)
I Don't Want To Spoil The Party (b-side of Eight Days A Week)
I'm Down (b-side of Help!)

*(based on American releases)

What about "Sugar Daddy" by the Jackson 5. It was a top 10 pop and number 3 smash in late 71'.

The "B-side" status of Day Tripper wasn't my question though.
It doesn't seem to satisfy the "Non LP" component of the thread. confuse

Do you wanna know the truth?

I've heard very little of Kate Bush. Probably only about 5 songs. But they never really impressed me. But the thing is, I really want to like her. Most of my friends have been into her at one point or another. And I know she probably just takes work like most good musicians do. But part of me is avoiding her because I've been hearing about the similarities to Tori for years. My childhood best friend told me it's scary how much they're related. And ever since then, I haven't wanted to destroy my notions of how original and one-of-a-kind my Tori is.

To be fair, Kate is, for many, one of the most difficult popular artists to appreciate. Luckily, I loved her from the start. But she goes over the heads of the majority of people. You either love her or you hate her. There's few who sit on the fence when it comes to Ms Bush. Her music is much more abstract than Tori's but I think she's worth the effort. She's probably Bowie's female equal in the sense that she managed to not compromise her work and still be commercially successful. She takes time, but like you say, the best artists usually do. I'm actually looking forward to both Kate's and Tori's albums in the coming year, but after a twelve year wait I'm sure you can imagine whose release I'm most excited about. It really is okay to love them both. Yes, they have their similarities. But they have their differences, too. wink

It's not that it's too difficult. I like plenty of challenging music. It's just that the original spark of interest that gets your attention hasn't happened yet. Any recommendations on what album, comp, etc. to get for someone who'd like to break into her music?

Well, if you don't like The Dreaming or Hounds Of Love then you probably won't like her at all. I'd go for HOL first. It's the more accessible of the two. And if that doesn't take your fancy after a dozen spins then I'd leave her alone. wink
