You must be referring to the 80's version of Kool and the Gang. the rest of us are thinking of the '68 to '78 version, the one that gave us: Jungle Boogie Summer Madness Funky Stuff/ More Funky Stuff Hollywood Swingin' Open Sesame Spirit of The Boogie Who's Gonna Take The Weight(Pts. Forgive me if he's already been listed and I've just overlooked him but my pic for one of the best out there today is the org's "second favorite artist" Terence Trent D'arby/Sananda Maitreya. Some might dispute whether or not he's a pure funk artist, but if prince counts then so does he as far as I'm concerned.

Sananda has brought out some pure funk. As you say when Prince counts as a funk artist so does Sananda

You asked for it... "Maybe not Bohemian Rhapsody, certainly not something Bach would lay claim to but as a dance floor filler at any good 80's night it rivals Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet for shameless kitsch." ~~Rory Dollard "There are so many cretins in the pop industry who fall for it - like Wham! and Spandau Ballet spilling all the details of their love life." ~~Kim Wilde "All Talk Talk have done is make three very fine albums with a gap of two years inbetween each. We’ve made each album different from the last, and we’ve based all our albums upon songwriting strength. So don’t give me no Spandau Ballet shit, success shit, or image shit. Our image is our music". ~~Mark Hollis The was one I just read recently that was really pointed. Can't find it right now. I'll save it for another time...and I know there'll be another time. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
