I know it so well that I know you misspelled the guy's name. It's Kamen with a "K".

I honestly don't remember this and I'm a huge Madonna fan. I read that she co-wrote and worked with songs by lesser known people (I think even remember reading that she did something on a record with two of the dancers from "Truth Or Dare") but other than Otto Von whoever and "Sidewalk Talk", I'm not very familar with Madonna's early collobrations with lesser known artists.

Baaaaad song. One of the worst that Jr Vasquez produced.

But back on topic - not a bad song at all. What's happened to him since then?

That was it! I just remember it being in the Madonna Encloypedia, which I already saw was referenced in another post. That book was excellent but needs an update.

Are you talking about Encyclopedia Madonnica? I used to have that book! lol I've seen its author, Matthew Rettunmund, every now and then on some VH1 pop culture show.

He sounds like Madonna cut his balls off right before they cut the song - talk about a high voice!

For some reason I have the album version, radio edit, extended version, and dub mix on my computer. Hmmmmm.....

He wasn't a one hit wonder
He also had a hit (at least here in Holland) with
"I Promised Myself"
(it was recently rereleased in a "house" style , btw)

I like that song boxed

(I don't like "Each Time You Break My Heart" , btw)

Madge uses part of the lyrics again in Waiting...

Waiting also samples Justify My Love

I love how she always refers to herself in her music

There is another connection in the Madonna-Kamen serie.

In both videos, the same kid appears.

1. In Nick Kamens vid he's with two other black guys just bumming around

2. In Madonna's "Open Your Heart" vid, he's the kid at the peep show.

He's also appeared in Sting's "Russians" vid and was the unofficial 3rd host in the last year of Channel 4's "The Tube" in 1987 on UK TV.

His name is Felix Howard. I did a photoshoot with him 20 years ago for a womens mag called "Woman's Own". Cool guy but was a sadist to the smaller kids (git!).

In Amy Winehouse's new album there's a track called "You Send Me Flying" and the writer is credited as "Felix Howard"... hmmm....

on another note...

back to the Nick Kamen thing, there's a bald black guy who appears in that vid too. We did a photoshoot together for a London magazine and made the front cover circa 1987.

Gonna have to dig the thing out now!
