What's up with all the hip hop slang and accents?

In the last 10 years or so, I've noticed that the majority of the youngsters are running around using hip hop slang and trying to immitate these rappers' accents. I can see using certain slang words but when they start trying to immitate their accents, it starts looking pretty hilarious. I'm in the South and I have seen youngsters that have never stepped a foot out of the state of Mississippi, running around trying to sound like they are from The Bronx or something. This little immitation they are doing, mixed with their Southern accent, can sound pretty damned stupid. They need to stop all the immitating because it is a real joke.

Anyone else have any stories?

Particularly pathetic over here in Europe and specifically
in the Netherlands where white kids talk like full fledged
gangsta rappers, doin handmoves and a walk and all.

They just come across as silly and incredibly lame. Yappin
about stuff as if they've grown up in the Bronx.

Please stop this madness!

Hell, never mind the kids - we now also have actual grown-ups behaving like that all over the world. But see...

No. you're not.
You're white.

You are white, yes, you are. You are white. You are whiter than whiter than white.

Please mind you language. "Y'all" is not language. It's slang.

I was responding to his comments about who he heard using slang. I still say its about when and where you use slang. If you don't have a on/off button, then there is a problem.

I know kids that say "true dat," "right thuur," "bling," "yo," and love "them some crunk" and they're Harvard graduates.

It's called youth culture.

I'm pretty sure when you were young, you had yours, too.

Just like Oprah said a few weeks ago: "don't be scurred!"
