Chain Reaction and the Bee Gees

Just wondering if they recorded their own version of the Diana Ross hit and where it can be found? It just struck me listening to Their Greatest Hits The Record hearing their version of If I Can't Have You, previousely being only familiar with Yvonne's version. Speaking of...what do people here think of that compilation? And is the song Emotion on it a recent song or a re-recording?

Rerecording of a classic. Why did they rerecord it? No one knows, since the rerecording sucks compared to the original.

That's what I feared. I really like the re-recording but as always I know I'll prefer the original if I ever hear it. If it ain't broke don't fix it, especially if it's music.

It's a good collection, aside from that. The best available. But such a nuts decision to replace Emotion with a rerecording is one of those head-scratchers for the ages.

I think The Record is the best compilation they've released. I'm not too fussed about their own versions of the songs they gave away (Emotion is the best of the bunch) and I'd have changed the track listing slightly, Saved By The Bell was solo Robin so I'd have replaced that with Morning Of My Life. The re-recordings and Guilty should have been ditched in favour of songs like Still Waters, Ordinary Lives, Paying The Price Of Love, Spirits Having Flown, Melody Fair and I.O.I.O. Also, Maurice should've had a lead vocal spot, too. Wildflower would have been my choice. Other than those complaints it's a damn fine set. And the sound quality is brilliant. smile
