How could I forget "HOT MUSIC (PAL JOEY REMIX)" by Soho? Arguably the greatest house track ever. Both Missy and K-Os looped it this year.

I never really saw the big deal with them. I mean, they had some fairly decent songs, but they don't deserve to be fucking legends. Especially when The Pixies don't get much love.

Hey, you know what? House music seemed to be the big thing too in 1991. You had Black Box, CeCe Peniston, uh.....C+C Music Factory, Technotronic, and of course, Crystal Waters. And didn't Lisa Lisa have a comeback hit with "Feel The Beat" or something?

But at the time I was still beyond OBSESSED with my main hero. That was when I saw Lovesexy Live for the first time. That was also when I was in the 3rd grade and I made friends with a guy who was a HUGE Prince fan. I went to his house and he practically had a shrine dedicated to the man.

I was in Heaven! eyepop

Well, I kinda did even if I was only a baby then. But at least that was when New Wave was becoming a commercial force to be reckoned with.

I remember a song that bumped back in 91.....

"Why can't you come home" by Ex-Girlfriend

that was my shit.
I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there.
I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish.
And I am

I still have that Ex-Girlfriend CD. That was when I was still a big Full Force fan and bought all the other records they produced. That might have been the last one though.

Yeah, that kinda surprised me as well. I love New Wave too -- but I was twelve years old when Culture Club's first album was released.

That's cool, though; most of the people I know who are in your age bracket haven't even bothered to explore New Wave (or much outside of pop radio, for that matter)... mad

Yeah, which is so crazy, because they don't sound that similar. Pal Joey was really hot in the early 90's. He coulda blown up huge if he'd hit about 8 years later.
