That's a hard one, which depends mightily on the moment. I'd recommend:

Marvin Gaye: What's Goin' On

Stevie Wonder: Talking Book

Al Green: I'm Still In Love With You

Soundtrack: Saturday Night Fever

Sly & The Family Stone: Anthology

The Police: Synchronicity or Ghost In The Machine

Digable Planets: Blowout Comb

Public Enemy: It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back

John Coltrane: My Favorite Things

Frank Sinatra; The Reprise Years

Peter Gabriel: Passion -- Soundtrack for The Last Temptation of Christ

For Holiday Trips:

Various: A Motown Christmas

Vince Guaraldi Trio: A Charlie Brown Christmas

The name of the soundtrack to the "Last Temptation. . ." is "Passion" (a la Parade: Soundtrack to UTCM) and was composed in 1988. "Passion" is not the soundtrack to the "Passion of the Christ," which was composed in 2004.
