When it comes to pop music,1983 is the best year of the 80s.Even though Prince's '1999' and MJ's 'Thriller' were released in late '82,it was in 1983 that these albums really reached their peak.That was such an exciting era.

Both years were wonderful but being a member of The Class of 1985, 1984 began my senior year so I am more partial to it.

Man that's tough. I'll go more with 1984. A lot of my favorite songs come from that year and even though I was 5 then, I remember quite a bit of that year.

In addition to the albums you've already listed, '83 had 'Speaking in Tongues', 'War', 'Rebel Yell' and 'Whammy!', but '84 had 'Make It Big', 'Reckoning', 'Ride the Lightning' and 'Heartbeat City'. I'd say it's too close to call.

1983, by far, but I'll give '84 props for Janet's second album "Dream Street"
