They never get the credit they deserve as a great genre-hopping Alternative rock band. They're still great though. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

i used to be a huge fan of fishbone's first album and of "truth and soul". unfortunately, they had way too much homophobic shit on their later albums and it turned me off to them altogether. it's a shame too, because i was REALLY into them when "truth and soul" was out.

Homophobic? Hmmmmm...that is one word I would have never used back in the day when Fishbone was tight. Now, sadly, without Kendall, Chris and Fish....they have turned into a ska band that sings songs made from Angelo's poetry. Coming soon to a not-so-popular venue near you. I would love if they were on Bands Reunited and they got back together and then stayed together and toured. But there were just way too many differences between members of that band. And I think their main song-writer Kendall had a mental breakdown of sorts. I wish I knew the entire story though. Does anyone know more? Last I heard Chris was doing keyboards for Jerry Cantrel and his band. Don't know what happened to Fish but he was one of the best drummers I've ever seen. Right up there with Mr. Blackwell.

i remember the "heterosexual celebration/me gay? no way" song from the "reality of my surroundings" album, and the one after that had its share of references to "queers" and "fags". there's only so much anti-gay shit i can handle in my music before i chuck it in the trash, sorry....though public enemy gets a free pass because their albums were fucking brilliant, and chuck d. did eventually address the issue with some kind of tact and grace in later years.

I only remember that being on 1 song. I never got them to be that homophobic.Maybe I just didn't notice it.I thought that was only on the Reality of My Surroundings album. Don't hold it against them. Listen to everything except that. And,actually,I think they only sang"this is a heterosexual celebration!" which isn't really homophobic. It was just a song about lust. Now,I do get your point because one would ask why was it important to emphasize "heterosexual".But,maybe his thoughts are out of context.I just don't picture Fishbone being against any group of people inherently. They were about inclusion.I don't think they are against homosexuals. They were just against hate. Go back and give them a chance. It's good stuff. "I'm a pig..so,magic elixir I swill"

That was, I say, that was a joke son. Who needs more politicly correct bullshit! Just say no to Censorship. nah, it wasn't a joke. but that's okay. like i said, some of PE's stuff was just as homophobic back in the day, but they were so brilliant i could let it slide...not to mention it was addressed by chuck in later years. to each their own, but fishbone alienated me with some of their lyrics, and that's that.

I pretty much know all of Fisbone's lyrics word for word and I don't recall anything else being said that might've been considered homophobic besides "it's a heterosexual celebebration". I can't think of anything off of "Give a monkey a brain" that would be considered homophobic.
