you know what, they weren't great on SNL last night, but they were the most competent act i've seen on there this season (with the exception of U2, which i didn't see, but i can assume they kicked requisite ass). the band seemed to be playing their instruments and they seemed to be enjoying the fact that they were performing...which is more than i can say for most of the hacks that have been playing on SNL this season. it made me wish i had tix to see them at the vic tonight here in chicago - my sweetie and i looked to see if there were tix left, but it was all sold out. sad

I went to the Vic show last night and can defintely say it was leaps and bounds better than what I expected from seeing the SNL appearance the night before!!!!!
I felt like I was seeing/hearing some f-ed up mix of Bowie, Bee Gees, B-52s with some early cool Elton mixed in. The vibe was total studio 54 in it's heyday and very very queer razz
They really did sound amazing and worked the crowd better than any other band I've seen this year... I mean who else would break into an impromptu version of the theme from "The Golden Girls" and have the whole audience singing along, while waiting for a tech problem to get fixed???!!!!!

Any of y'all who want to diss them should dig to find a song called "The Skins" (especially if you're into Controversy era Prince) and let me know if you still think they suck.

Anxiety- we should meet up more often, I coulda got you in! neutral

Unless their album is drastically different than their live show, I'm not interested. They were terrible on SNL. I couldn't understand a single word that was said and the music was nothing that hasn't been done (and done better) by many others before them. It's disco disguised as retro cool - nothing more.

That SNL perormance made me question why I love this band, then I went a listened to it again and now I remember why. They're original and a good band.

PF fans need to lighten up, they're not a band anymore.

Then to start a thread on how a band sucks...err

for those who hate scissor sisters because of the pink floyd cover, please never ever listen to an '80s band called flying lizards. while i don't think they ever covered pink floyd, they did a whole album of uber-bizarro covers of pop songs, and i don't think you'd be able to stand the strain. comfort

we'll just have to agree to disagree. They may have that disco-ish vibe at times, but they mash a lot of other stuff into it as well. Again, I don't think they are the greatest band ever or anything. But they are A LOT of fun.

i know a lot of good bands that have done awful covers of other artists songs and i still think those bands are good. scisssor sisters are not one of those bands. their whole gimmick thing comes off really cheesy to me...sorta like "look at me, i'm wearing shiny gold pants and i'm gay!" and "don't we dress really neat?!?"

but hey...i really like the spice girls! lol

ewwww Pink Floyd SUX! i can't believe there are Prince fans that like Pink Floyd...do u play D&D too?? smile

What the fuck does Pink Floyd have to do with D&D?? Is this some sort of implication that only geeks like Floyd?? Somehow, I doubt that's the case, since they are widely repected by critics, musicologists and rock fans alike. Dark Side Of The Moon forever holds the record for being on the Billboard charts longer than any other album, so obviously, they appeal to more than just basement-dwelling gamers (and why, in particular, they would appeal to this group is still beyond me).

Floyd is a band that PLENTY of Prince fans like. PF have created some of the best albums in the history of rock.

GEEK MUSIC!...always has been and always will be smile

I saw them perform live here in San Diego. They rocked the venue and I had a blast. Great sense of humor too although that wasn't showcased on their SNL performance cool

Why am I having this conversation with people who want to argue about a band? nuts

Have you even listened to the cd? Obviously you haven't because the cd is diverse.

Here's a solution to your ignorance, don't listen if you don't like them.

I wasn't very impressed with their preformance (they weren't bad, but I'm not intersted), but they get high marks for the new Kylie track, "I Believe In YOu", which I can't stop playing. It's very fun.

They have another track they did with her called "I Know" which i think is the better track.

Their song It Can't Come Quick Enough is amazing...

plus my ex knows the bassist... they hung out in PTown last summer

They've done really well over here in the UK with a number one album, several hit singles and loads of critical acclaim. Personally I love the record - its loads of fun, and in case you guys are missing it, just a tad ironic.

Incidentally, the guys from Floyd loved the cover, and the sisters when asked in an interview which record they wouldn't be here without is, replied 'Purple Rain'.

you know, i'll say one thing about the scissor sisters - as hot as jake is, he looks really fucking dumb in some of those costumes he wears. if he's gonna dress like prince circa 1992, he really shouldn't have such a conservative hairstyle (for starters). dude needs to get his image sorted out. barf

I did read what you wrote but that was before you made the comment I quoted, so generalizing with stated ignorance about what you are talking about, that explains everything.

I guess there is no solution, argue with yourself nuts
