Guy ..... I c u have MC hammer on your avatar... I feel MC got his time of fame and left just when he was supposed 2. While he is/was a good dancer his longevity was questionable. He got his respects though, there was a VH1 movie on him and a Behind The Music also.....where Prince still does not have one. Pumps N A Bumps and It's All Good was my jams in 1994...reminds me so much of 6th grade Guy is another story though. Teddy and Aaron were TIGHT. It was the sound that made Guy a classic..the New jack..I don't think other new types of R&B would fit them more perfectly than that sound, same goes for Jodeci and H-Town...though Guy was more classic than their albums combined. Guy III was an ok album, but i just didnt feel the vibe the same anymore as much as I would've liked to. [Edited 12/11/04 21:34pm] Straight Jacket Funk Affair

here are a few i feel deserve much more respect than they get (or got):
Kris Kristofferson (!) Waylon Jennings (!) John Mayer (people really need to quit comparing him to Dave Matthews !) Tom Petty (Never really got recognition for the influence he had on rock music) Carl Perkins Hank Williams III Blaze Foley (If only people knew about this guy) It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

I feel Hammer got ragged on particually by other rappers for "selling out" after he exploded with his second album. Rappers found him credible untill he became a huge seller. Hammer did not deliberately go commerical, he just naturally became more commcerical if u know what I mean. I do not think Hammer said "lets appeal to white audeinces now" as no rapper would of known how to back then! His friendly image helped him crossover, but that was Hammer though. Hammer did his thing and was kinda unique and never looked back! "the funky headhunter" was him selling out though, trying to cash in on Tupac and snoop etc.....but that album is very good though. "pumps and a bump" "its all good" "dont stop" (teddy again!) r all great jams. If someone else released those songs, most people would agree too, but as it was Hammer, people ragged him. I love Guy. Aaron was one hell of a vocalist. Remember when R kelly wanted to be Guy on his first album and "shes got that vibe" etc....."Why u wanna dog me out" remix with wrecks n effect hits very hard....."lets stay together" was the last video I remember seeing of them 'till Guy III "dancin'"! Guy, with just 2 albums ( I don't count the last) were way better then Blackstreet. People rag on Newjack too Guymade good videos too "wanna get with u" (almost defines Newjack videos with its dark streets and dancing) "spend the night" (damn what a remix) "do me right" "round and round".....

Ani DiFranco
Wilco Soul Asylum Aimee Mann To me, these singers/bands all provide the world with wonderful, poetic lyrics and music that's intricate and involved without a lot of frills and bows. It pisses me off to no end when people say things like, "I love deep, heartfelt lyrics," yet when I bring up any or all of those listed above, I receive blank stares followed by responses like, "Never heard of them, but I love Jason Mraz, John Mayer, and Norah Jones." Oh brother. "She made me glad to be a man"

I didnt look at Hammer as selling out as I was still young and dint really think about the music image in a grown folks sense of mind. But when Vanilla Ice came out with that whack ass dreads shit, I wasnt feelin that, as I never really liked him when i was little either. I really did not like R. Kelly's first beginnings of music cuz it really sounds like he was just another artist trying to sound like Aaron trying to sound like Charlie Wilson. Im glad R Kelly came out of his box though when "Downlow" and "I Cant Sleep (If I)" came out, I then appreciated him. Guy';s first two albums are stronger than Blackstreet's...their last album went nowhere and faded without a trace too. Sadly. I saw that Guy had a greatest hits album out also, but I have most of those songs already. Oh well...I hope one day New jack will find it's appreciation again, cuz there are enough slow mid-tempo songs that people dance to and i cant take it anymore! Techno has become more and more of the same also...New Jack..come back Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Matter 'fact, the whole One Might Say (1994) album was a gem. So was Paradise (1997). People on here have said there was a video for "Happiness," but I've never seen it. If I become famous and have a music countdown, I'm going to request that video. That's the only way it's going to be played nowadays.

Meshell N'degeocello....As far as musical abillity, no female artist out there can touch her. She's like a female Prince. Amel Larrieux... she sings like an angel with meaningful, creative lyrics, but all people want to hear is cookie cutter, connect the dots singers like beyonce and Ashanti.
