Zap Mama

Just wondering... how big is Zap Mama in the U.S., or in the rest of the world apart from Belgium?

They had their first hit in Belgium when I was in my first year of high-school, something like that. I liked them immediately, but never have been really in love with them. Since a year or two, a guy who I was in class and scouting with, he's as old as me, became the band's pianist. Before, I never knew they were 'that big', I mean, they played with Erykah Badu and stuff... This summer I saw my first concert of Zap Mama. I liked it, but again, I wasn't overwhelmed. So tell me, do you know them? How big are they in your country?

I adore Zap Mama, but I wouldn't call them big in the States. Your average radio listener has probably never even heard of them.

That said, though, they do have a devoted following here. It may be relatively small, but most fans I know have been to see them several times each.

Met them here in Philly after their show. Cool people! Got some pics to show ya'll after the concert. Funny, me and my singer at the time snuck in the back of the alley after the show to meet them once it was finished. It was a great performance. I got a chance to talk with the female bassist for about 20 minutes. She didn't speak much english but we knew what we were referring to when we started spittin' out names of our influences. LOL! I felt real sneaky cuz all of the guards were sending people away and we snuck around them all!
