(The same could be said of James Brown) To me he's one male vocalist that could inject genuine emotion to the lyrics of songs like I've Been Loving You Too Long and Try A Little Tenderness without sounding forced. And he never had pitch problems.

But it's odd, because I always felt Otis' material was covered better by other artists. I have mucho respect for him as a songwriter, and felt he should have done that exclusively. And I never could bring myself to like "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay". Oh well | |

I thought you were a Southern Soul Man? Nothing personal against Otis. Actually, I think he's a wonderfully talented artist and some of his songs I can deal with but not really fully get into. I guess my brother-in-law kinda turned me off when it comes to Otis Redding. He's an ex-DJ and at every party, you know you are going to hear some Otis. When he starts to feeling his alcohol, he may play a whole set of nothing but back to back Otis. One night it felt like it was endless. Andy is a four letter word. | |
