I don't remember the exact quote but something to the effect that ambulances keep coming back & fourth everytime they play that movie in the theatres. And how all of a sudden Italian boys got guts and attitude becoz of it.

And that movie is the cheesiest most fantasial shit ever, it makes me cry in disgust.

As long as we aren't talking about "Livin' In America" by Donna Summer, off her self-titled 1982 album. That was bad!

Was the movie where Carl Weathers dies? I rememeber crying becuase I thought it was real. Freaky shit for a 5 year old.

'Living in America' is an 80s pop song, James Brown funked in up a bit. Anything JB makes is funky. He made Christmas songs funky!!!

You might be better off going with this James Brown album that's usually overlooked,...

...Gravity

It's got Living In America on it.
This is a Dan "Instant Replay" Hartman (Edgar Winter, Stevie Wonder, Todd Rundgren) written and produced release that has James Brown with a backing band of decent musicians (Maceo, T.M. Stevens, Stevie Winwood, SRV) put together by Dan.
Some may consider this a travesty (not using James Brown's band) but there are a few decent tunes here.
Gravity and Goliath being two.

Let the hate...pissed...begin!

Did not like the movie - but Mr. Dynamite, Soul Brother No. 1 added flavor and spiced it up with Living in America. I especially liked the beginning rift of Living in America. I found the patriotic lyrics in this song unsettling, due to the fact he was arrested and placed in jail before he released this song in America.

Isn't it true that James Brown had nothing to do with the creation of this album other than dubbing his vocals after the fact?

It's very possible as I believe all the tunes were written by the late Dan Hartman and Charlie Midnight.

However, if I wanted Living In America, i'd much rather it be accompanied by the set of tunes from Gravity than what's on the Rocky IV soundtrack.

No Easy Way Out - Robert Tepper

We're not indestructible,
baby better get that straight
I think it's unbelievable
how you give into the hands of fate

Some things are worth fighting for some
feelings never die
I'm not askin' for another chance
I just wanna know why

There's no easy way out there's no shortcut
There's no easy way out givin' in can't be wrong

I think that most are better actually. If you like LIA, you should dig them.
Check out some samples on cduniverse or allmusic.
