The Jam and Lewis "scream" remix was HOTT! As was the "who is it" one (which is actually on the boxset beleive it or not!)

Remember the C and C music fatory remix of "black or white"? I got that too, pretty good!

And whoever was saying that Disco music didn't have great arrangements needs to go back and do some digging . . . start with looking up something called 'the Philly sound.'

Arguably MJ's best album. It's my favorite from him. This album is in the middle of his "golden period" for me. This period is intertwined with albums he recorded with his brothers...beginning with Destiny, Off The Wall, Triumph and Thriller. I liked MJ during this period because he was not chasing trends, he had not gone totally pop and he was actually working with some great musicians. Furthermore, I actually think MJ works better when he is writing, arranging and producing himself without help from every "hot" producer of the period.

Yeah, so you're into Jacksons Live and stuff like "Heartbreak Hotel (This Place Hotel)"?

Oh yeah..the Jackson's Live album was really good. Especially when they went into the Old School/New School segment. Heartbreak Hotel(I cannot believe he altered the name because of that Elvis Presley song, that is so lame), is a great track. Arguably one of the best MJ has ever done, I LOVE that song. The entire Triumph album is damn good sans Wondering Who, that is just drivel. Destiny is a damn good album too, and it contains some orchestration by Mr. Clare Fischer on Push Me Away. If you can sit still to Shake Your Body Down To The Ground, you have no pulse and if you are not moved by the somber yet prophetic lyrics of Bless His Soul you do not have ears. I wish MJ had taken his own advice on Bless His Soul, he may have been better off. It is amazing to hear how good MJ sounds when he is actually working with live instrumentation and singing about real human emotions. Thriller was the beginning of the end to me. I liked it when it came out but now I consider it very spotty and I have a hard time relating to most of the songs as an adult. The title track is very cheesy, I'm still trying to figure out the songs purpose. However, the vid is on point. thumbs up!

My brother and I played this record to death.. I think it was our favorite record for like 2 years and then "Thriller" came out and I I thought Michael must have been sent from musical heaven.

"Off the Wall" is still my favorite, I love the all of it especially "I Can't Help IT" by Stevie.

The thing that really bothers me about the CD versions is the fact that Michael changed the cover. The vinyl was a foldout which was really cool back in the day. Michael's handsome face was on the front cover and his glittery socks were on the back, when you folded the record out it was a full shot of him. I can't believe they have taken his face off the cover, I'm sure it was MJ's idea, but it's very sad..

'Thriller' may be the best selling album of all time, but 'Off the Wall', hands down, is his best of all time.

This album came out during the time disco was dying down, and instead of trying to hire disco songwriters and producers, MJ took a risk with Quincy Jones. So the album is a beautiful mix of post-disco, soul, and jazz-funk.

The young MJ fans are too young to remember this album, and think "Thriller" is the greatest album ever made from MJ, they should be schooled about this album.

Yeah, I noticed the die hard MJ fans say - Off The Wall was his best.

I think Off The Wall was his most soulful album to date but Thriller expanded his musical fan base becasue of songs like Beat It and Thriller. Also, the writing was better in Thriller. The songs had more of an edge.

It's fun to discover old albums like this on your own, even when they are established classics! Such a great album, though I still love Thriller just a tad more. Off the Wall, Get on the Floor, I Can't Help It, Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough - all classics, and all excellent. If you liked this one, you should give The Jacksons' Triumph a listen. There are a few songs on there that sound like Off the Wall era songs, especially This Place Hotel; I think it's one of the best songs MJ has ever written.
