I thought it was just ME who liked Load and Reload too Lombardo, Hetfield and Dime in one band.....They would have DESTROYED places with that combo! Good call! Oh-James is the man! I'm such a die-hard Hetfield supporter-you can't begin to imagine. I remember when James had his pyro accident and I was so freaked out. James never gets the respect he deserves He's my main musical influence/major impact on me. I love those two-they get a bad rap just because they're not the Black album. Wouldn't that band just have been incredible? Just imagine the albums-that combination-and you know Dime would've done it, he's cited James as an influence. (So have many, many others.) ()

So many questions I have but here's just a few...:
What guitar(s) do you own/ play? Do you have a band? If so, you got a website? Do you have any recordings I can hear? Any of your own material..? (Stop me if I'm pissing you off btw ) What styles do you play? Who do you play most like....?

What guitar(s) do you own/ play? -Ibanez electric; Yamaha acoustic
Do you have a band? If so, you got a website? -Do my own thing really, no website. Do you have any recordings I can hear? -Nothing online, nothing on here, working on 'em. Any of your own material..? -I've written lots and lots of stuff. (Stop me if I'm pissing you off btw ) -Not yet. What styles do you play? Who do you play most like....? -I kinda go back and forth between the one guitar/one voice (acoustic) and the more metal side of things but with some funky elements sometimes. Really it's whatever happens, styles sometimes ending up merging or a lot of time it's an acoustic riff that kinda cycles with the voice over it. -Some influences are James Hetfield, Dimebag, Prince, Trent Reznor (musically and idea wise in ways), and many many others all across the spectrum-never just one type of music, I love all influences, just ends up sounding like me somehow.

This is horrible.
I've only heard of Dimebag Darrell. Saw a few guitar magazines where he was mentioned, but I've never heard him play. Whoever it was that shot him, it was just the wrong time and the wrong place to take out a grudge. Was the guy crazy? Was it a revenge hit? We won't have a clue until the detectives do their work. Unfortunately, Dimebag's family has lost more than one member today. I can't find the words. I'm sure the eulogy will be, "he died on stage, man, that's where he wanted to be." But I keep thinking of the female in the Matrix who looks up plaintively at the camera just before Joey Pants pulls her plug-- "Not...like...this..." What will this mean for any performers on stage? Metal detectors at every show? No more shows in the round? No more live concerts? Man...It's a nightmare. God bless the Abbot family. Go in peace to all those lost yesterday... Some people tell me I've got great legs...

Dimebag Darrell, Four Others Killed In Ohio Concert Shooting
12.09.2004 2:10 AM EST Unidentified man jumps onstage and shoots bandmembers, others. Dimebag Darrell (file) Photo: MTV News Dimebag Darrell, guitarist for Damageplan and Pantera, was killed during a shooting spree at a Columbus, Ohio, nightclub Wednesday night. He was 38. Darrell, real name Darrell Abbott, was among the five dead in the incident, including the as-yet-unnamed shooter and two fans, Nathan Bray and Erin Halk, according to Columbus Police public information officer Sherry Mercurio. Damageplan had just begun their first song in front of several hundred at Alrosa Villa when the gunman jumped onstage, made a comment about Pantera's breakup, and began firing at close range into Darrell's body, shooting him several times before opening fire on the crowd. Mercurio said an officer in the vicinity heard the call of shots fired shortly after 10 p.m., snuck in the back door of the venue and confronted the gunman onstage. When the officer took the stage, he observed one victim and the gunman holding a hostage by the neck. The officer opened fire on the male suspect, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Mercurio said the fifth victim's name and those of the two wounded have also not yet been released. Several reports stated that the club had no metal detector, though Mercurio could not confirm that at press time and a club spokesperson could not be reached. "If the officer hadn't acted when he did and how he did, we'd probably be looking at more dead, because this guy was actively shooting," said public information officer Sergeant Brent Mull. Following the incident, police took more than 200 patrons onto three city-donated buses to interview them about the shooting. "The ones that were inside and witnessed this ran for their lives and were in fear for their lives," Mull said. "They are victims too, and we want to take care of them." As news of Dimebag's tragic demise rippled through the metal community, the news was met with shock and sadness. "I'm speechless," former Rob Zombie/ Ozzy Osbourne bassist Rob Blasko Nicholson said. "This is totally unreal. Dimebag is a f---ing legend and this is total bullsh--." Damageplan also features Dimebag's brother, former Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul; singer Patrick Lachman and bassist Bob Zilla. "This is insane and this is beyond travesty," Killswitch Engage frontman and former Damageplan tour partner Howard Jones said. "This is beyond anything I've ever heard. This shouldn't happen in or outside of the rock and metal community. He will be missed and mourned as a person, as a musician, and as a friend." In a body bag. Police shot the guy before he could get away. Don't worry, he won't be coming after you in a hurry!

I've been to the Alrose Villa before. The place is a hole in the wall. One of the smallest clubs I've ever been too. Despite that, Brian McKnight performed there once, and Prince even had an after party there during the "Celebration" tour in 2001.
This was really disturbing to hear. I can't imagine how the families feel, especially the family of the bouncer who was killed. I was at the gym this morning listening to 99.7 The Blitz and they still had very little accurate info. I love performing in small clubs and watching others in small clubs, but this makes you realize that you're a sitting duck up there if someone wants to do something to you. What a terrible, senseless thing.

Sad day
I'm from Dallas and I've seen Dime at Pantera shows, play at his tatoo shop and even play at the clubhouse, (although most of the time Vinnie and him were just hanging out). Whenever hockey starts back up, I'll be able to hear him at every Stars game. He was a metal legend He'll be definetely missed.

It's metal-and metal doesn't equal ratings to them, so he won't get the respect he deserves. This seems like a pretty big story. It's in all the newspapers (their websites) here in NY. I first heard about it at 6:00 am EST on Howard Stern. He opened his show this morning with the news.

I can't imagine what it was like for the fans who were there.. or for Dimebag's brother, who is the drummer and had to see this happen. oh my god, his brother must be in such a state of shock! poor guy! did you hear that phil anslemo could be a suspect? he was quted just last week saying that he wanted to kill dime bag and that he has fans that will do whatever he wants them to do. maybe a fan heard and took action!

I've just got in from work, and I gotta say, I'm genuinely fucking shocked by this, and got a lump in my throat.
Pantera were without doubt, THE premiere metal band of the nineties - I can't tell ya how many times my friends and I travelled far and wide to see these guys and party. We got lucky one nite back in '92, and hung out with the band after a gig in Newport (except Phil who by this point was not the most approachable guy ever) but Dime and Vinnie - even Rex were genuinely nice guys, and Dime signed my CD: Fuck - this truly bloody sucks. Metal's lost probably THE best shred-riffing monster gutiarist of my generation. Rest in peace Dime dude, and thanks for the good times. I'll light one up 4 ya.

I saw him say that his fans would do whatever he wants them to, but I didn't hear the kill part. I highly doubt that Phil knowingly had any part it in. But who knows? I really hope not, because Phil Anselmo and his music mean a whole lot to me. "Down by the riverbank in the old bayou.. I'm digging a grave into mud just for you."

Exactly. It's sad that it takes an incident like this to prove that society shouldn't stereotype music audiences. This could have happened in any small club due to security and one rapid fan. It wasn't the audience. It's a very sad day in music.
