The fact that the two groups are so HIGHLY regarded makes me cringe. That doesn't mean I don't like them, but we are talking about the word LEGEND. We are talking, TLC who is the biggest selling female group of ALL TIME.....that makes me cringe. I like TLC but when it comes to musical talent, those girls are even more limited than Destiny's Child. Chili couldn't hold her own against anyone in Destiny's Child, and although I love T-Boz's voice, she mostly talks, and you guys are going to come after me for this, but although I loved Left Eye's rapping style, just how difficult is it to recite words against someone else's music? I still say rapping is easy.

It sure doesn't take much to satisfy the general public these days and that's a shame.

And I agree about SWV...those girls could SANG.

Say it again about SWV. I'm going to have to break out their Christmas CD when I get home. I think people are using the word "legend" very loosely. Neither one is legendary yet.

I disagree about TLC being limited. I think they all had unique voices and different talents. I'm not going to compare, or anything, but I would say that TLC made great records when they were around, much better than the R&B and pop out now. And they were very diverse. It never seemed like they were trying (although, maybe a bit on the last album).

I have to jump in on this TLC debate. I feel that DC3 are a more interesting group then TLC. I mean TLC is even more manufactued then you guys seem to think DC3 are. TLC were put together by Pebbles. At least Beyonce put her group together when they were 9. The DC3 girls might not emphasize personality that much, but that's because they're a glamazon'd united front. TLC's handlers saw the personalities of the girls and said, "ok you're crazy, you're sexy and you're cool." The TLC girls can't sing. Sure they sound passable on record, but there's no excuse for how downright terrible they sounded on the grammy's a few years ago. DC3 might not be the greatest singers, but I have heard them sing live and they sound better then TLC on their best day. Plus the fact that none of TLC's albums are as entertaining as "Survivor". I should add that Left Eye never sang on a TLC record, she just rapped, which is cool. But Left Eyes raps usually accounted for about 3 to 4 per album. Not much input from 1/3 of a band. And aside from Left Eyes's raps, the girls never wrote much of anything. So all that personality you guys claim was a product of other people. I give DC3 the slight edge in this battle.

DC3 more interesting? I don't see or hear that at all. DC3 is rather dependent on good producers to make all their songs sound different. Granted, TLC were also very dependent on their producers, but I felt that their materail was all over the place musically and lyrically and it worked very well for them. More interesting? TLC was damn near fascinating and very real (they were very open about what was going on during the hard times and didn't have to look at the LEAD girl to know what to say), which had my interest, along with very good records.

I didn't know that but I hope you didn't post that to make a point. Apollonia was on a hit record and also got a record deal. So did Vanity. In that case Naomi Cambell released an album, Tyra Banks has a record, and in the 80's even little Kim "tootie" Fields released a song (and performed it on Soul Train) called "Dear Michael", which was a tribute to Michael Jackson. Signing with a record company really doesn't mean squat to some people....like me.

disbelief YOU are comparing Chili to VANITY or APPOLONIA!!!?? NOW THOSE girls couldnt hold a note...lemme try 2 hear Vanity or Apples try to sing "Red Light Special" "If I Was your Girlfriend" "No Scrubs" "Dear Lie" baby Baby Baby"...I mean alot of people cold probably sing it better than T-Boz or Chili, but Apples and Vanity?? NOOOOO!! Thats a criminal act of Music History #2,463 and u are convicted of musical ignorance and bigotry torwards a well respected artist(s).

Then u got the nerve to say that Chili cant sing better than Tyra or Kim Fields.. boo That's a big mamma ass whippin right there...

I wasn't compariing Chili to them. Those were examples of the fact that being signed to a record company or being on a record doesn't mean anything. I thought I made that clear by my last sentence.

Again, we are talking about the word LEGEND and the fact that TLC is the biggest selling female group of all time. Those are heavy titles to have and I would think to deserve those titles at least some of the members in the group should have been GREAT at something (singing, dancing, writing music), which none of them ever were. Regardless of what anyone says, Chili is not, nor ever has been a GREAT singer and the same can be said for T-Boz and Left Eye (as a rapper). DC3 did not change the face of music and hasn't done anything to deserve a place in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in the future, yet they are getting awards with the word LEGEND attached to it eek ? When I think of LEGENDS, I think of Prince, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, Ella Fitzgerald, Pat Benetar, Run DMC, Shirley Ceasar, etc. I'm sorry but TLC and DC3 do not belong in that category with those people.
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

I agree with you, I thought that u were agreeing that DC should have the title "legends". TLC I wouldnt say "legends" either, but as a group effort with good singles, good persoanlity and a movie worthy background they deserve it (TLC that is). Now The Supremes are legend worthy...even New Edition are very under-rated as legend-worthy and they should be in Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame by now (its been 21 years now..)

DC3 ARE Legends! Even the great (and possibly senile) Stevie Wonder thinks so...

What about right now?

My favorite song right now is "Lose My Breath" by Destiny's Child. I'm a major fan of Beyonce -- she has a great voice. And I was a major fan of Aaliyah's voice. My heart was so broke, I said, "You know what? In the next life she's got to be my wife." I also think Babyface has written some great stuff, and I think John Mayer is a great writer. I like his honesty a lot, and I like India's honesty a lot, too.

I think this will be the last album by the girls. They didn't capitalize on their last album "Survivor", instead digressing into ballad-heavy Beyonce territory. The bitchiness, campiness and edgy fun that used to be in the forefront is now in the background.

That moron Deborah Norville was interviewing the girls and she starts quoting "Soldier" and she says, "Better be straight if you're lookin at me" and I was thinking you better read something before you go quoting it. Of course the girls didn't want to embarrass her stupid a$$ so they pretended they didn't notice but I swear what do they pay these reporters for?

Proof of the DC3 legend in decline:

A song like "Cater 2 U" would've been unthinkable in the past for DC3. Never ones to cater to their men, they bend over backwards in this song that is so retrograde it makes "Desperate Housewives" look like "Nip/Tuck".

[Verse 1 Beyonce]
Baby I See You Working Hard
I Want To Let You Know I'm Proud,
Let You Know That I Admire What You Do
Don't Know If I Need To Reassure You, My Life Would Be Purposeless Without You (Yeah)
If I Want It (Got It)
When I Ask You (You Provide It)
You Inspire Me To Be Better
You Challenge Me For The Better
Sit Back And Let Me Pour Out My Love Letter

Let Me Help You
Take Off Your Shoes
Untie You Shoestrings
Take Off Your Cufflinks (Yeah)
What You Want To Eat Boo? (Yeah)
Let Me Feed You
Let Me Run Your Bathwater
Whatever You Desire, I'll Aspire
Sing You A Song
Turn My Game On
I'll Brush Your Hair
Help Put Your Do Rag On
Want A Foot Rub? (Yeah)
You Want A Manicure?
Baby I'm Yours I Want To Cater To You Boy

In comical, over the top style (a trademark of DC3) she goes on and on about what menial thing she'll do one after the other. Kelly fares far worse:

[Verse 2 Kelly]
Baby I'm Happy You're Home,
Let Me Hold You In My Arms
I Just Want To Take The Stress Away From You
Making Sure That I'm Doing My Part (Oh)
Boy Is There Something You Need Me To Do (Oh)
If You Want It (I Got It)
Say The Word (I Will Try It)
I Know Whatever I'm Not Fulfilling (Oh)
No Other Woman Is Willing (Oh)
I'm Going To Fulfill Your Mind, Body, And Spirit

I Promise You (Promise You)
I'll Keep Myself Up (Oh)
Remain The Same Chick (Yeah)
You Fell In Love With (Yeah)
I'll Keep It Tight, I'll Keep My Figure Right
I'll Keep My Hair Fixed, Keep Rocking The Hottest Outfits
When You Come Home Late Tap Me On My Shoulder, I'll Roll Over
Baby I Heard You, I'm Here To Serve You (I'm Lovin It, I'm Lovin It)
If It's Love You Need, To Give It Is My Joy
All I Want To Do, Is Cater To You Boy

Kelly's verse is worse because she goes to her appearance for ways to keep her man. I swear the only thing about this song that is remotely DC3 is the rapid-fire speed at which the songs are sung, in a way that dares you to try to sing them live. The DC3 I know are too in a hurry to tell you off to even sit still long enough to "cater" to their man in THIS way.
