Did you guys see the VH1 Special on how they searched for a lead singer? Came on last week - very interesting. Even when they finally decided on Scott, he no-showed/came late a few times. Hope they can stay together.

I saw that, but it seems Duff has hooked him up with his martial arts instructor who helped Duff kick his vices. I hope it works for Scott cool

Whoever thought that Slash would become one of the hardest working men in show business? Meanwhile, Axl just rots away somewhere in Chinese Democracyland...

Folks, I hate to say it as much as I really dig Velvet Revolver material somehow I miss having Axl's vocals. Let's face it, the original line up of GNR was a fucking kick ass band. Who knows, maybe the guys will be inspired to let bygones be bygones after seeing Motley Crue get back together.

Velvet Revolver is to Guns and Roses as Van Hagar is to Van Halen

Will people have forgotten Axl when Chinese Democracy is released?

Sorry pkidwell and hotlegs but this is as good as it will ever get. Axl is fat and out of his mind. A by product of believing in your fame, hype, and bullshit. I personally think Scott is a better singer, and writer than Mr Rose but thats just my opinion.

If GNR ever did reunite it would never match the glory days, so I have moved on and quite frankly satisfied with the Velvet Revolver days.

I guess so. Stone Temple Pilots are great but I have heard that Scott isn't really the talent behind that band. In fact, if this Velvet Revolver gig works out, SOTT might have to get another singer. But I would rather listen to Guns or SOTT than the new Velvet Revolver. It is just missing something. I think it is the fact that it has the makings of a super-group but falls short of coming close to Guns or SOTT. It isn't in the middle either. It is like listening to Guns without Axl or SOTT without the rest of the band.

I think the problem is to many people try to put Velvet Revolver in the GNR or STP box rather than just let them be a band, with no molds from the past.

Its also nice to see some hard rock (that is good) doing well for a change.

Unfortunately, there is no way people can not resist associating Velvet Revolver w/STP or GNR because the band sounds like a merger of the 2 bands and has high profile members of each old band.

and therefore, with so much talent in one band, they totally missed the opportunity to bring something new.....VR is a hair-band on automatic-pilot, riding the nostalgia-bandwagon!

Not sure if I'd go that far calling them a hair band, I never associated GNR or STP with the hair band thing next you'll be calling them Dokken without the soul lol

Same Here, I would exactly call STP or GNR a hair band neither. Whereas, Dokken is another story altogether.

The VR album is SOOOOO average, which is as bad as being just plain awful for a Rock n Roll band.

Appetite... is an AMAZING album, even after all this time I can still listen to the whole damn thing and get into it. I just hate it when a mighty band like that falls down to substandard so quickly and so completely disbelief

Sorry to disagree but in the age of Sluteny and Christina, boy bands, and lame bands like Good Charlotte, VR is a breath of fresh air.

Personally, I think the album kicks serious ass. I was skeptical, because I dig G&R and I absolutely LOVE STP. Well, I think they combined some of the best elements of both bands. No, its not a substitute for either, but let's face it: the G&R we all knew and loved is over, and STP have split up. This is a new group, and they ROCK!

Appetite was perfection that is hard to match. I don't think VR will ever get up to that level. GNR needs to follow Crue's lead and reunite for just 1 fucking tour and give the public what we want for once and damn the ego.

Ummm, they're not a "hair-band" in any sense of the word. G&R wasn't ever a hair band, nor was STP. VR's music doesnt' sound anyting like bands such as Poison, Warrent or Winger.

STP already has fired Scott, and are officially disbanded. They may do another album with a different singer, but it won't be called STP (they did this once already with the Talk Show project).

GNR was a hair-band.....STP was an Eddie Vedder wannabe with a mediocre band....
