No Woman No Cry

I was listening to my natty dread L.P.
listening to the Original recording of No Woman No Cry
is it just me or does the recording sounds like its been sped up
Bob's voice sounds like he's been smoking helium rich herb

and i still don't understand the Lyrics of "No Woman No Cry"
great song...
but i don't understand it
The lyrics talhk about Bob and his life in trench town in poverty
but whats up with no woman no cry?

This is one of my favorite songs by Bob, both the original album version, and the live version on "Legend."

No, his voice doesn't sound sped up. He was a little younger when Natty Dread came out, so his voice was a tiny bit different, and the tempo of the original is faster than the slowed-down live version.

As far as the lyrics, I don't see what's confusing about them. "Woman, little sister, don't shed no tears." He's talking to the women in his life and the women in Jamaica who endure the same poverty and oppression he's talking about in the song. It's the ancestor of 2PAC's "Keep Your Head Up."
