Top Ten Greatest Funk Grooves of All Time Keeping in mind this is slightly different category than greatest funk "songs", even though funk is fundamentally a groove driven genre.
1.Get up (I feel like being a) sex machine (definitive funk groove) 2.Dance To The Music (most exuberant, joyous groove) 3.I Wish (second most exuberant groove) 4.Thank You Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Agin (birth of slap bass funk) 5.Uncle Jam (perhaps P-funk's greatest achievement) 6.Hot Pants (one of the reasons why JB could afford to endlessly recycle himself) 7.Superstition (the best use of clavinet ever) 8.Shake Your Body Down To the Ground (disco-funk hybridization at it's best) 9.Brick House (the paragon of nasty funk) 10.Give it to me baby (this alone secures slick rick's legacy)

I'm glad I got the replies I got, perhaps I should have titled the thread "my top ten funk grooves" rather than trying to sound official. However, I think few could dispute that sex machine is THE funk groove of all time.

Vain, your list is definitely on point for sure. When it comes to funk, that's just a very slim piece of the pie. I don't think we have enough memory in our computers for me to keep on listing. Andy is a four letter word.
