Different stars, I guess. In the UK and Europe they go nuts over some people and I just have to wonder why. Cliff is one of them. Of course, we have Usher (who isn't as successful over there) and Snoop Dogg so you see what I mean.

I'd listen to a cat farting before I'd listen to Usher.

It is the single most appalling thing I've ever heard in my life. I'd rather drink a glass of unset cement than ever have to listen to that monkey's left testicle of a song again.

Personally, I cant beleive England still treasures this has been!! Over here hes this countrys #1 housewife and granny favourite crooner!!Hes beloved by mindless housewives and grandmothers nationwide here!! Hes also a self-confessed gay celibate(He is 60-odd and hes never had sex, or so he says!!) yet years ago in the 70s he had a "romance" with Olivia Newton John, before she saw the light and headed over 2 America!!
He is not only a pop "performer"(and I use that term loosely), but also he has another life as a devout Born-Again Christian and he does Mission and Gospel Tours and often appears on religious programmes here!! He is the ultimate media darling here!!!! Hes such a self righteous do-gooder, it makes me puke!!! The thing is, if Prince is not careful, hes gonna end up just like Cliff Richard!! Cliff Richard seems more like the Pat Boone of England, to me. "Awards are like hemorrhoids. Sooner or later, every asshole gets one."

i'm lucky in that the only things i actually know by him with any certainty at all is his duet with Janet on Dream Street and his duet with Elton John on Leather Jackets. fortunately, i never listen to those albums because they suck (Dream Street less so than the other one). He was one of the first-played artists on MTV's launch...
Here's the first ten videos they played when they launched in the U.S. It's very erm... white-bread. 1. "Video Killed The Radio Star"- The Buggles 2. "You Better Run" - Pat Benatar 3. "She Won't Dance With Me" - Rod Stewart 4. "You Better You Bet" - The Who 5. "Little Suzie's On The Up" - PhD 6. "We Don't Talk Anymore" - Cliff Richard 7. "Brass In Pocket" - Pretenders 8. "Time Heals" - Todd Rundgren 9. "Take It On The Run" - REO Speedwagon 10. "Rockin' The Paradise" - Styx He is like a closet-case version of Pat Boone. I do like "We Don't Talk Anymore" though.

i love the bizarre mix of crap MTV played in its early days, when the only criteria for getting a song on the air was "does it have a video?" "Awards are like hemorrhoids. Sooner or later, every asshole gets one."

Managed to get another plug in for America eh Roz, when do you ever give up? Maybe you ought to go on one of his gospel tours and find this religious side you are always harping on about, personally if you have religious beliefs then I am a cocunut. Nothing wrong with being a do gooder, if you got off your arse and did some good for a change you might feel better about yourself. Do back to the doctors, the pills aren't working!

I loved "We Don't Talk Any More" even if the video effects are cheesey. And his over bite is sorta cute.

I've never heard his duet with Janet Jackson. Is it any good? not particularly, but it's listenable enough. "Awards are like hemorrhoids. Sooner or later, every asshole gets one."

I knew a few of his songs (mostly Devil Woman), but didn't realize how big he was in England until I had to review a box-set of his films. I've seen the Elvis comparison many, many times.
