Bowie fans, a little help Could anybody tell me where I might find the original version of David Bowie's "The Prettiest Star". I'm not talking about the version on Aladdin Sane. I mean the one from 1970 (I think) with Marc Bolan on guitar. I've checked every Bowie disc I've seen and I haven't found it on any of them.

It's on the Sound & Vision box set. Dunno if it's on anything else.

I'm pretty sure it's on the Sound and Vision boxed set. It's the "single version" of the song. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

If you're referring to the "Digibook expanded editions", Amazon.com/uk has them. I'm not sure if they ship to the US or not. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

yeah, i found em on amazon.uk, but i think i'd wind up paying out the wazoo for shipping if i ordered from the US...i'll just have to scrounge around the city some more, i guess. i think the virgin megastores are carrying 'em, i just don't wanna trek to the shopping district during the christmas season, ugh...

Bundled together in that box set, they're going for well over $100 on Ebay.

Thanks, y'all. | |

it's on "The Best of David Bowie 1969-1974" .... probably the best single-disc compilation of his entire career (and there have been many).
PS: i don't mean it covers his entire career (it only covers the years in the title), but it's the best one that's ever been put out. by far better than "1974-1979" which by all rights should have been better, but isn't. in fact, it's almost awful. i'm not as much interested in having the box set packaging as i am just being able to find the digibook reissues themselves, but i'd be lying if i said my inner collector geek weren't salivating over the idea of snagging one of those suckers.

The individual ones have been going for at least $25 on there too I'm afraid.
