Really disappointed in the MJ box

I always liked Michael jackosn's music, have all his albums, and saw him twice live.. I'm a huge fan of Prince, but MJ is ok.

The last live show reaqlly disappointed me coz of the playbackshow, but whatever...

I wanted to have this new box... Gladly ebough for me I know someone who owns a record store, so i borrowed it for an evening (it is his box)

After listening to it, I am really glad I didn't buy it.. coz it is really a rude way to get money!!

1st of all this DVD of the Dangerous tour,,,,, I saw the bad tour (awesome!!) and history tour (really bad!!!) so it was the 1st time for me to see this one, but it is also a big playbackshow!!!! What a fake show.. Yeah, some songs live, but not too much...

I have this Jacksons live in 81 (i belive) recording...In she's out of my life he asks; Can i come down there??? and so he did in 1988, and 1995!!!

All these tours are just a repeat of themselves!! Too bad, coz I'm sure he ahs been capable of some more....

Then the 4 cd's..... lots of music, only 17 new songs for me (deleted songs at first) most of them I know why they were deleted after listening!
the rest..... yet another best of... and still songs missing!! How sad..

Yes, I even did buy History, eventhough I owned all the hits already... But now.. Really glad I didn;t buy this box.

Also the booklet.... could have been much better... very much known pictures,, seen them before..

ofcourse for huge MJ fans it is a must have, but to all the "likers" of his music...really.. don't buy it, it is a waste of money, and if you wanna have it for the live show... it ain't live.. better buy the videoclips dvd...

sad too bad... too sad sad

I guess I'm happy with it because the only cd I owned was "Off the Wall"... everything else is on vinyl or cassette. This is what History should have been. And for 29 bucks, I can't complain too much.

The only songs which arent live vocals are "Jam", "Smooth Criminal", "Black or White" parts of heal the world, man in the mirror and will u be there. This show is 80% live, i cant believe ur complaining coz this show is amazing, do u know any human being who could sing live and dance the way mj does during smooth criminal and jam! When he does sing in this show his vocals are amazing, esp "She's out of my life", "I just cant stop loving u" and "Man in the mirror"

I think u forget some songs being not live;
Jam
Smooth criminal
Thriler
Will you be there
Black or white
heal the world (parts??? live is live, not parts...oooe iiee aah, yeah live huh?)
man in the mirror...

That makes it 8 songs NOT live of 16...that would be 50%!!!!!
And the songs he sings live... not very well.. and I know he really can have a great voice!!

Really, I do respect him, but if you are not gonna sing live (or only parts, do not go on tour!! IT IS FAKE!!!

As I said before, I saw the Bad tour and it was great, but the songs he plays in the dangerous tour and history, are exactly the same arranged as they were in Bad.. I hate that!! (talkin' bout thriller, wanna be startin... etc...)

And the most stupid thing to me is, to release a live show (finally) with PLAYBACK!!! How stupid can you be??

Well, he seemed to certainly manage pretty bloody well on the Bad tour - I saw him a number of times, and I didn't notice him mime once, and he was brilliant. In a nutshell, I think that's the tenure of Lennon's argument.

I love my boxset, new songs like Scared Of The Moon, Sunset Driver, In The Back, Fall Again and We've had enough are to die for! At the moment Scared Of The Moon is my favourite, it's got that "weird" tone that Stranger In Moscow has. Fall Again is another favourite, great love song, melodically perfect.

The Dangerous Concert which is one of the greatest concerts ever IMHO is in amazing quality for the first time. And his voice is amazing, soulful! Dancing is also mindblowing. That performance of Jam eek

I have this Jacksons live in 81 (i belive) recording...In she's out of my life he asks; Can i come down there??? and so he did in 1988, and 1995!!!

Are you talking about HIStory Tour?? If so, he never sang She's Out Of My Life at HIStory Tours.

Jam
Smooth criminal

man in the mirror...

Smooth Criminal IS live. I'm ot sure about will you be there but he sings different lyrics to some part of the song so it may be live too.

I want more tours, especially Victory, Destiny and Bad(second part with Dirty Diana)

maybe it was prerecorded for the concerts because it definately not the same singing on album...

TV Guide: What's your favorite song to perform?

Michael: "Billie Jean", but only when I don't have to do it the same way. The audience wants a certain thing. I have to do the moonwalk in that spot. [Laughs] I'd like to do a different version.

I guess he feels like he has to do some songs in a certain way for the sake of nostalgia, most people like to see what they already know done live so I understand him, but yeah agree, he should've try new things.

Billie Jean at 1995 VMA for example was nice change

Most vocalists who mime in concert re-record their vocals, so I would expect it to sound different than the album/single versions if he was miming them. Never let that be your litmus test for judging whether or not something is live. It should be obvious for other reasons, for example if he's doing the splits during a high note. wink

Now it seems i don't like him at all, but I still do... just felt my disappointed feelings like i felt them visiting the History tour... Ofcourse people expect him to do the moonwalk.. I was more disappointed about that line "can I come down there???' It is not really spontanious....

anyway, I hope someday the bad tour will be released on dvd, than I will be satisfied! smile

I so desperatly want MJ to release a new album called "Innocent"

And he can record a music video of the title track, where he does classic MJ moves in the courtroom. It would bring him back to the top

Lennon is right, most of the songs are playback. MJ wanted the Bucharest concert to be the HBO special. Maybe it looked good for his image going to a third world country, but thats it! Everyting else was worst case scenario.

I went to two other dangerous concerts and it was almost everything live. Romania was the last show on the european part of his tour and it was quite cold.

Facts but no excuses. Don't do the last and coldest show and make a TV Special!
