"Every time I think of you, I feel shot right through with a bolt of blue..." Brilliant track! This is why the 80's were so damn great. We need a new New Order LP ASAP. I really liked the track they produced for Gwen. Love the lyrics: Every time I think of you I feel shot right through with a bolt of blue It's no problem of mine But it's a problem I find Living a life that I can't leave behind But there's no sense in telling me The wisdom of the fool won't set you free But that's the way that it goes And it's what nobody knows well every day my confusion grows Every time I see you falling I get down on my knees and pray I'm waiting for that final moment You say the words that I can't say I feel fine and I feel good I'm feeling like I never should Whenever I get this way I just don't know what to say Why can't we be ourselves like we were yesterday I'm not sure what this could mean I don't think you're what you seem I do admit to myself That if I hurt someone else Then I'll never see just what we're meant to be Every time I see you falling I get down on my knees and pray I'm waiting for that final moment You say the words that I can't say

Depends on your tastes. I recommend everyone go out and buy a New Order collection but download this, Blue Monday, Perfect Kiss, and some other classics to see if you appreciate them.

My favorite New Wave songs are "Black Velveteen" by Lenny Kravitz and "I Just Cant Get Enough" by Depeche Mode, "Devin Dazzle" Felix Da Housecat. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

If you like "Just Can't Get Enough", you'll probably like a lot of New Order. New Order usually has more melancholy lyrics and an eerie tone to their work but they sound a lot like "JCGE" production-wise. [Edited 12/5/04 18:39pm]

For a very different and refreshing version, try Frente's version of this song. Short but sweet Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

I think Brotherhood overall is the best New Order record (though if I'm in an artier mood I'll go for Power, Corruption and Lies). Way of Life is the great unheard New Order song IMO. [Edited 12/5/04 19:15pm]

Gotta love 'Bizarre Love Triangle'; my favorite New Order song ever.
Gwen Stefani's new song, however, sounds exactly like 'Bizarre Love Triangle', with a little bit of 'True Faith' thrown in for good measure. It seems less like New Order influence (they didn't produce the song, only played/sang on it) than a straight up rip off of their music. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

I love that acoustic remake. There's even a Chinese-language remake of the Frente acoustic remake. I almost fell out of the bus I was riding on when I heard it. I adore Frente... Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

One of my absolute favorite bands. Their music makes me feel like no one else's. Pure ecstasy. And that song is one of their most singable, danceable, memorable tracks. The Shep Pettibone remix is the best version. And GrayKing is right. Their new stuff is due in February.

Here's what Gwen said about the track they did together:
"That song was a song I had written with Linda, and the version that we did was like cheese-central," the No Doubt singer told the Sun recently. "But it was based on early Madonna, New Order-y, inspiration. It was my favourite song and when I played it for (producer Nellee Hooper) I was embarrassed. That's how nerdy I thought the song was. But I knew there was a great song in it. We ended up saying, 'Wow, we can't find a home for this, production-wise.' And we went through all these different loops, and then we ended up saying, 'Well, let's go to the source. Let's see if New Order will play.' And I'd been kind of stalking those guys 'cause I wanted to write with them, but they were doing their own record and we never hooked up. But then they said they would do it. They were going to play it and then give it back to us and they would work from there (England)."
