there is actually a VERY good cover of "sinking" by a band called The Shroud. It's on one of those new Electro-Goth "tribute" CDs, which are mostly crap.
But this one that just came out is very interesting, there are some good and thoughtful covers, especially "Sinking". It's got the thumping bass like when The Cure plays it live... really nice version, well worth seeking out.

I must be one of the few people on the org that's actually feeling 311's cover of "Lovesong". Before they even released it, I had been thinking to myself that it lends itself well to a reggae context. I actually enjoy their poppish reggae reworking of that track -- then again, I'm hardly a devout Cure fan, so a reinvention of their music does not quite constitute sacrilege in my eyes.

Personally, I'm dying to hear Usher cover "Shake Dog Shake". Jay-Zee should do a rap version of "Prayers For Rain". Oh, and my life will not be complete until I hear Michael Botlon and Celine Dion do a duet version of "Like Cocatoos" with Kenny G backing them up!!!
Oh, and Emenim simpy MUST cover "A Man Inside My Mouth". Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I've never heard them, so fortunately not! They are one of those generic emo/punk bands. You're not missing anything.

When I saw generic emo, they're the first band that came to mind. Don't hate it though.

a la Jimmy Eat World? I don't think Jimmy Eat World sounds like generic emo although they have been labeled with the emo term. I think they sound more like Thursday--like some guy screaming about how his ex-girlfriend is a bitch and how miserable he is. I hate emo.
