when this thing was all the rage, i started to download it to see if i wanted it... listened to a few tracks and cancelled all of the downloading tracks in queue..... had the same reaction. wtf is the big deal? if i want to listen to Bowie & Elton smushed into each other on record, i'll spin discs by each of them full blast at the same time.

I think it's merely an OK record. Not brilliant by any means, but "OK" is a huge thing these days so they're getting blown all out of proportion.

I totally dig this album. (Especially Comfortably Numb- fuckin brilliant).

In no way do I think this is an earth-shattering, genre defining, best-ever-made CD. But it's a lot of fun.

And, beyond just the music. It's refreshing to me to see an unabashedly queer group get the press and exposure they are getting. This is very rare (at least in the US) and I like it. nod

i don't think it's JUST because they are a gay group. They are fun and energetic and quirky. I think that's the true cause of the buzz. But, whatevs. We all can't like everything. If you're not digging it, at least you checked it out!

nah, not because they're a gay group. because they're catchy and energetic (for me, anyway). it's good dumb fun pop music. i know of some of the people from the band from my days in the east village, and for me, it's not as cool to see a gay group getting successful as it is for me to see some east village fags hitting it big. go e.vil!

They are performing on Saturday Night Live this week . Should be interesting !

Great record . Tired of all the "They sound just like _____ (insert Elton John , Bowie , Bee Gees, Pet Shop Boys here). It says something though if you can be comapred to that many different artist in one 43 min album.

T*ts on the Radio worth the price of the CD alone.

I think I saw them on Conan a while back and they were great live. I never knew they were a gay band. The fact that they are doesn't really come through on the album. I wonder if that was on purpose so more homophobic people would be fooled and buy it. Hah! Imagine their surprise when they bought the album, liked it and then returned it because the band was gay. I hate those homophobic red states.

somehow i doubt this album is a homophobic person's cup of tea whether the band is actually gay or not.

Listen to their demo album and you'll hear just how gay they are. They de-gay-ed the album before it got released. It sucks that we live in this kind of a world in 2004 ferfuckssake!!!!

They are great live, and Jake is a fucking hottie!

they probably didn't want to be pigeonholed as a novelty act on their first time out.
