No, they said he likely would be when the nominations are announced tomorrow.

And how do you explain the Grammys. Steely Dan album of the year? There is no explanation.

Sure there is. The Grammy nominating comittee has a habit of trying to make up for years of ignoring people with some sort of cachet and longevity: Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Santana...

Oh shit, I remember that!

But still (and I'm sure theAudience will agree wink ), any committee that nominates Backstreet Boys for album of the year cannot be taken seriously.

Or the fact that Britney has gotten two Best Female Pop Vocal Performance nominations.

VC knows exactly where I was coming from.
The Grammy committee are not very progressive in their selections and in the case of the Jethro Tull choice and Backstreet Boys/Britney nominations, possibly incoherent. The Steely Dan selection was nowhere near as silly. It was a superbly recorded set of songs. You may not like the material but that's another story.

The Grammys are what they are, generally speaking, not much.

I think people took strong offense to Em throwing up on Michael and misconstrued it as being a racist act. *shrug*

All I know is DMX had that really homophobic song out last year about him having no love for homo thugs blah blah and no one said anything about it. DMX got a pass after all that Eminem bruhaha a few years earlier.

EMINEMS RESPONSE 2 MJ SCANDAL:
from "Em Calls Paul" on Encore LP

Aye yo Paul, It's Em
I got your call about the Michael Jackson thing
And I know that he's not 'thrilled' about the video
What does he 'wanna be startin' somethin'?'
Well I'll show him who's really 'bad'
Paul, 'the way you make me feel' with these calls
You should really take a look at the 'man in the mirror'
And tell him to 'beat it' because I 'won't stop till I get enough'
Do you 'remember the time' we were watching the 'Billy Jean' video?
Well he'll always be that Michael to me
And it doesn't matter if he's 'black or white'
Because I 'can't stop loving him' and I hate plastic surgeons
And I hope they all fucking die!
How do you like that?
And I like him, I like him a lot
I want to touch him but I can't
Excuse me, I'm taking a shit
Sorry
Anyways, call me back
I have this idea about how I want to end the show
So, hit me when you get this message fucker
Oh, and by the way

Even in Bizarroworld i don't think Em stands a chance against Stevie in the talent department. Stevie was from a generation of musicians on a whole other dimension from what we've had since, people who could produce their own albums, write and arrange all their own material, and play all or most of the instrumentation and vocals. David Bowie was one of them, Todd Rundgren was one of them, Paul McCartney was one of them, Sly Stone, Larry Graham and Bootsy were all among them too. Prince, and later TTD, were the last of that breed. NO rapper can even claim an infinitessimal fraction of the amount of talent that the least of these guys have. In fact, in general, rappers aren't even real musicians: if you're not singing, not writing your own music and not playing any instruments, in what respect are you a "musician"? Some rappers can do these things, but most just use music recorded previously by other artists and not even necessarily in creative ways.

Well u did just say SOME which most rappers are not singers or artists..this is a old 1989 type argument and this is very old...u just have 2 look past that.

Anyway, EM is not comparable 2 Stevie and / or Michael so..its like apples and oranges people..2004 rap and 70's 80's R&B are TOTAL different things.

If anything, the argument that rappers aren't musicians is even MORE applicable now than it was in 1989. Public Enemy at least used sampling inventively, rather than most of the the single-sample loop songs that dominate most MAINSTREAM rap. I do have an appreciation for hip-hop but most, if not all, MAINSTREAM hip-hop sucks and even most good hip-hop does not require the same level of musicianship or talent that Stevie Wonder, or any of the other musicians i named, have/had. Here's another thin, 70s and 80s R&B is not a completely different area, a great deal, perhaps the majority, of the music behind most hip-hop comes from 70s and 80s R&B.

But to compare Grandmaster's "The Message" to "Cant Hold Me Down" by Puffy is out of the question..so dont even try it. Eminem to Stevie WONDER!!?? Have U lost your mind? Why are they even being talked about in the same paragraph? May as well compare Steven King to Chingy..it just dont go 2gether.

is this really on the album? if so, this is my main complaint about Eminim. manufactured controversy. not so much the controversy itself, but that he's already got the response laid out before the controversy. if this is on the album, then apparently he knew that the video was going to cause hysteria, so the album that the actual song that the video is for has its own response on it.

it's like when he only had one hit out in the early days and he was already on to singing about how controversial he is and how misunderstood and mistreated he is. lord.

the gaybashing, the mysoginy, the supposed racism... none of that is more annoying than the fact that he's only controversial so that he'll have a pity-party "poor me" song to follow it up with.

I think marshal should write a dis song about stevie (who I love) and see how well that would go over. Eminem wants to be as big as Michael was or still is in some respect.

p.s. I love how phony Michael fans (like em) invoke their love for thriller and bad without mentioning or knowing his 10 years of legendary work before thriller. Just cause you bought purple rain or thriller doesn’t mean your a fan of prince or a fan of Michael.
